We have lived in Camberley Surrey for over 13 years now and it’s proven to be a really lovely place to live. It’s close enough to travel into London easily but also not too far from countryside or the coast and within easy access of motorways to travel further afield as well.
I’ve written previously about things to do with kids in the Camberley area but, now our children are getting older, I thought it would be good just to share some general things to do in and around Camberley rather than just those aimed at children but activities for the whole family or just adults on a date or day out.
So here are some things to do in Camberley for adults as well as a little further afield. Whether you’re looking for things to do in Camberley today, things to do Camberley this weekend or things to do in Camberley at night, I hope this gives you some inspiration!
Things to do near Camberley Surrey
Parks, outside spaces and walks near Camberley
There are so many great parks near Camberley as well as a few little parks in Camberley town. Frimley Lodge Park is a fantastic green space with a play area and miniature railway and we love going to California Country Park โ especially in the summer to make use of the paddling pool if not going to Aldershot Lido โ and Lightwater Country Park which are not too far away either. Within Camberley thereโs Watchetts Recreation Ground, Camberley Park, Crabtree Park and Barossa Common which gives a completely different landscape to explore.
There are so many places for a dog walk or just to blow off the cobwebs and one of our most recent discoveries is Buckler’s Forest just a short drive away and for a short walk, Watchetts Lakes are lovely and a real piece of tranquility amongst the houses. Shepherd Meadows is also a really lovely green space.
A little further afield, we love to visit Wellington Country Park, Virginia Water and Savill Garden. Plus, Windsor is not too far away either. It’s wonderful to spend a day in Windsor Great Park, visit Windsor Castle and have a nice meal or afternoon tea in Windsor too.
Treasure Trails are another great way of getting out and about and although there isn’t a Camberley Treasure Trail, there are a few locally. Here are some of our favourites:
- Aldershot โ Military Driving Trail
- Basingstoke
- Beaulieu Station to Beaulieu Village
- Brockenhurst
- Fordingbridge
- Gosport
- Historic Southampton
- Lyndhurst โ Aliceโs Wonderland?
- Petersfield
- Southampton Gardens
- Winchester City and Castle

See a film or show
Going to the cinema is one of our favourite things to do when we don’t have any plans on a weekend. There is quite a lot of choice for cinemas locally with Vue Camberley or Farnborough, Odeon Bracknell, Cineworld Bracknell or Aldershot as well as Everyman in Wokingham just a little further afield.
Theatre shows are another great choice and Camberley Theatre has just undergone a fantastic refurbishment. Another local choice is Princes Hall in Aldershot where we have seen so many shows over the years.

Theme parks
Although Camberley doesn’t have its own theme park, it’s really not that far to Legoland, Thorpe Park or even Chessington World of Adventures on the other side of Surrey. There’s also Paulton’s Park just across the border in Hampshire which is always a lovely day out.
The Royal Military Academy Sandhurst often has events on throughout the year as well as many of the churches around Camberley, and not just at Christmas either!
If all else fails, Camberley shopping is nice for a morning or afternoon – especially when you add a pitstop at a cafe for tea and cake or an indulgent hot chocolate! For a bigger shopping trip, Basingstoke, Reading, Woking or Guildford are not too far away.
