Seeing Christmas light displays is such a big part of the festive season and it’s always great to go and see the holiday lights being switched on too. Most towns make a huge thing of it, with Christmas market stalls, food and drinks and entertainers as well as the lights being turned on for the first time.
Christmas is just around the corner and there are so many festive activities and magical Christmas events coming up that I thought I’d share them with you. They’re great for inspiration if you have a free weekend, a few hours spare after school or are looking for ways to fill up the Christmas holidays.
It’s that time of year where families across the country and searching for the best places to see Father Christmas. A highlight of our calendar, meeting Father Christmas is something we look forward to as a family in the run up to Christmas and something we spend so much time researching and booking.
October half term is always one of our favourite school holidays. The start of the school year always takes some getting used to and so, by October half term, we’re all in need of a break. Plus, it’s autumn, the perfect time to snuggle up at home, make hot chocolate and play board games together.
But, it’s also lovely to get our and about, go for a walk and make some memories surrounded by all the signs of autumn. So I thought I’d put together some ideas of things to do across Surrey this October half term.
Everyone loves pumpkin picking, don’t they? It’s something that is on so many calendars, something families look forward to and that children get excited about for months. It’s one of our favourite things about autumn and I’ve been researching more places we can go pumpkin picking in Surrey.
We love seeing fireworks. It’s a real annual tradition and something the children always love. It’s always nice to get the extended family together or a group of friends and enjoy the festivities together. Something seasonal that all ages can enjoy.
I thought it would be nice to put together all the professional firework displays across Surrey so you can add the dates to your diary. I’ve found so many that I hadn’t heard of before – we have so many fantastic displays in Surrey.
Escape Rooms are hugely popular and you can now find them in most towns across the country – and abroad too. They’re something that friends and family can do together and a great way of celebrating a birthday or special occasion.
A local country park that we love to visit is Lightwater Country Park. On the edge of Lightwater village, the country park is just a short drive from us in Camberley and is situated right next to Lightwater Country Park Leisure Centre. Managed by Surrey Heath Borough Council, it’s a real hub for the local community and a great place to visit.
With the summer holidays stretching out in front of us, it can often be hard to think of activities to keep children entertained. Something different for a fun day out or just a summer themed activity that the children will enjoy. I thought I’d put together all the things happening across Surrey this summer as well as some activity ideas to help plan your summer holidays.
Laser Tag was such a new thing when I was a child but it’s now such a popular pastime and something children – and grown ups – love to do. Laser tag venues have grown massively in popularity over recent years and now laser centres are everywhere.
