Wherever you go as a family, you want to make sure that the children will be entertained. So I can appreciate the joy of finding a pub with not just a beer garden but a play area in it too. A pub that knows that parents want to enjoy a drink and relax whilst their children play happily. This could be outdoor play areas with play equipment, kids indoor play areas or even soft play in some cases.
Growing up in the 90s, some of my fondest memories are of sitting in pub beer gardens with a glass bottle of Coke, drinking it through a straw whilst enjoying a packet of crisps in the sunshine whilst parents relaxed. Back then, we talked or read a book as, aside from the treat of a bottle of Coca Cola, there wasn’t anything for kids to do in pubs. How times have changed!
Now, the majority of pubs cater to families and are fantasticly kid friendly too. Whether they do a lovely childrenโs menu, ice cream for pudding, have activity sheets to do whilst the children wait for their pub grub meal or simply offer highchairs and baby change facilities.
Pubs know that families are great clientele and will do all they can to make a family visit a great one, ensuring the pub is as child friendly as possible whether you visit at the weekend or in school holidays.

Play areas go that one step further. Not just creating perfect family friendly pubs but actively wanting families to visit. And so here are some pubs with play areas across Surrey to keep your little ones entertained. I hope it gives you inspiration when youโre next looking for somewhere to relax for an afternoon. Thanks to a reader suggestion, I’ve also created the below map so you can see easily where each pub is.

So there you have thirty one child friendly pubs with outdoor play areas, climbing frames and play frames across Surrey. However, we often stop at Brewers Fayre pubs when we’re travelling around the country as they’re great family friendly restaurants and they often have nice play areas too. Plus, they regularly have kids eat free offers too.
Iโll add more as I come across them and please let me know if you have a favourite that Iโve missed too. Itโs so nice to enjoy the outdoor space that many pubs offer, especially over the warmer months, and itโs lovely that so many have dedicated an outdoor area to family fun to help keep the kids entertained! Some even cater for kids birthday parties too!
You can also see pubs with play areas in other counties here:
We definitely fall within your intended audience Donna as we are always on the hunt for a pub with a playground wherever we go! That is incidentally why I stumbled upon this article of yours today. 2 others that I can think of for your useful list straight away is Worplesdon Place and The Percy Arms in Chilworth, both good pubs as well.
Thanks so much – I’ll add them in when I’m back at my desk on Tuesday! Really appreciate the info!
One more- the Jovial Sailor in Ripley
Thanks so much, I’ll add in!
This is really handy, thank you! Would be amazing if you were able to plot them onto Google Maps, as it’s hard to know how far away they all are without looking them up one by one… Not sure how easy that is for you to do?
It’s funny you should say that – I’ve just started making a map for a post I’m writing at the moment and was thinking what other posts I could create maps for. Thanks for the nudge Ryan – I’ll make one ASAP!
Hello,
Thanks so much for this article.
Another few to add are the ball and wicket in Farnham and the spotted cow in lower Bourne. Bother really nice and have play areas to entertain the kids
Thanks so much Emma, I’ve added both to the article ๐
Thanks for the inspiration Ryan – the post now includes a map, hope this helps!
Dog and Duck in Outwood, near Redhill has a huge play area too
Thank you, I’ll add it in now ๐
This is a great website, thank you!
You can also add the Golden Grove in Chertsey if you wish.
Thanks Mark, I’ll add it to the list ๐
Just an FYI that Craggy Island in Guildford (listed as something nearby pub #13) is now Blue Spider Climbing, and they also have a Yellow Spider site near pub in Banstead (near #27 – The Woodman). The Woodman is also near Banstead Lavender Farm, which is definitely worth a visit. Thanks so much for this list – we’ll be referring to it regularly, I’m sure!
Thanks so much Michelle – I’ve made edits and really appreciate the input ๐
