Wherever you go as a family, you want to make sure that the children will be entertained. So I can appreciate the joy of finding a pub with not just a beer garden but a play area in it too. A pub that knows that parents want to enjoy a drink and relax whilst their children play happily. This could be outdoor play areas with play equipment, kids indoor play areas or even soft play in some cases.

Growing up in the 90s, some of my fondest memories are of sitting in pub beer gardens with a glass bottle of Coke, drinking it through a straw whilst enjoying a packet of crisps in the sunshine whilst parents relaxed. Back then, we talked or read a book as, aside from the treat of a bottle of Coca Cola, there wasn’t anything for kids to do in pubs. How times have changed!

Now, the majority of pubs cater to families and are fantasticly kid friendly too. Whether they do a lovely children’s menu, ice cream for pudding, have activity sheets to do whilst the children wait for their pub grub meal or simply offer highchairs and baby change facilities.

Pubs know that families are great clientele and will do all they can to make a family visit a great one, ensuring the pub is as child friendly as possible whether you visit at the weekend or in school holidays.

Play areas go that one step further. Not just creating perfect family friendly pubs but actively wanting families to visit. And so here are some pubs with play areas across London to keep your little ones entertained. I hope it gives you inspiration when you’re next looking for somewhere to relax for an afternoon. Thanks to a reader suggestion, I’ve also created the below map so you can see easily where each pub is.
