This year Mother’s Day is on Sunday 27th March 2022 and I know it’s something that people start planning and thinking about weeks before. Whether you want to buy your mum the perfect gift or organise a day out to spoil her, it’s bound to be an important day on your calendar.
I thought it would be helpful to put together options of things to do for the Mother’s Day weekend in case you’re stuck for inspiration. From the cheap and cheerful to the extravagant, here’s a whole host of ideas for you including any special Mothers Day events across Surrey too.
Things to do for Mother’s Day in Surrey
National Trust
A day out at a National Trust property is always a great choice that everyone from young children to grandparents will enjoy. There are so many National Trust properties in Surrey, many of which have trails to enjoy, play areas and beautiful walks too.
Morden Hall Park also have a special event in the run up to Mother’s Day this year where children can create a special present to take home for their mummy on Mother’s Day. They have the chance to plant a flower and decorate the pot. It’s such a lovely idea that children – and mums – will love.
Mum’s The Word – Sat & Sun 19th & 20th March and Fri-Sun 25th-27th March. – £5 per child.

Surrey Walks
It’s always nice to just go out and get some fresh air and so a walk could be a lovely way to spend a chunk of Mothers Day. Virginia Water and Box Hill are two of our favourite places to walk and you can find more inspiration for family walks in Surrey here.
Days Out in Surrey
If you’re looking for more than just a walk, a full day out could be just the thing. Painshill Park, Kew Gardens and RHS Garden Wisley are all great choices with tea rooms and plenty to see and do.

Going to a cinema could be another nice option and a really relaxed way to spend Mother’s Day. There are new films being released all the time and our top pick for Mothers Day would be Downton Abbey: A New Era, I can’t wait to see it!
Spa Treats in Surrey
Going to a spa for the day is such a lovely way to celebrate Mothers Day and we have so many great spas across Surrey. From the Brooklands B Spa in Weybridge to Foxhills or the luxurious Pennyhill Park. There are spa options to suit every budget.

You could always extend the treat by making it into a spa break, adding a hotel room and dinner to the experience. Or, alternatively, you may just want a lovely treatment together without making a full day or break of it. In this case, The Massage Company offer fantastic massage packages for two.

Shopping in Surrey
A day full of shopping, chatting and stops for tea and cake is pretty much my favourite way to spend Mothers Day and there are plenty of places that are great for shopping. You could visit Woking, wander down by the river in Kingston, enjoy a stroll through Richmond or pop to Guildford.
