Easter Holidays in Surrey 2024

It’s always nice to do something different over the school holidays, have a nice day out and some quality time together. Easter is one of our favourite school holidays and so I thought I’d put together some ideas of things to do over Easter, like Easter events in Surrey, day out ideas and Easter trails in Surrey.

When are the school holidays at Easter in Surrey?

The Surrey school holidays this Easter run from 29th March 2024 to 12th April 2024. Easter Monday is at the start of the holidays this year, on Monday 1st April. However, friends in neighbouring counties often have different school holiday dates.

You can check the Surrey County Council term dates for the current academic year here and it’s best to check your school website too in case there are any inconsistencies with the spring term or at any other point through the year.

Easter is a great time to go on holiday and I know many people choose Easter for big, memorable holidays like Disney World or even Easter ski holidays, picking it as a great time to make memories the whole family will never forget. But, if you’re staying close to home this Easter, here are some ideas to pass the time:

RHS Garden Wisley – Wisley Ln, Wisley, Woking GU23 6QB

Easter Holidays – Giant Egg Hunt – 29 March 2024 – 14 April 2024 – 10am -5pm

Included in the cost of RHS Garden Wisley, and free for members, the Giant Egg Hunt is a great day out for the whole family. Discover the enormous painted eggs hidden around the garden and join in planting or craft workshops in the CLORE Learning Centre with daily Easter activities.

Plus, get to explore all that Wisley has to offer – The Laboratory, the beautiful Mixed Borders, Battleston Hill, The Bowes-Lyon Rose Garden, The Rock Garden, Oakwood, the incredible Glass House and so much more.

Easter Holidays in Surrey

Kew Gardens Easter Trail

The Bluey Trail – 29th March to 14th April 2024

The hit animated television series Bluey is coming to life at Kew Gardens this Easter! Bluey, the loveable Blue Heeler puppy, is visiting Kew for interactive activities inspired by the show. Plus, there’s the chance to meet Bluey at the Gardens at intervals on each day throughout the event.

Hampton Court Palace – Hampton Ct Way, Molesey, East Molesey KT8 9AU

The Lindt Gold Bunny Hunt – 23 March 2024 – 14 April 2024

Included with the cost of admission, and members go free, The Lindt Gold Bunny hunt is back at Hampton Court Palace this Easter! Find the Lindt Gold Bunny and discover the stories of fascinating people who visited, lived and worked at Hampton Court Palace in years gone by.

Use the trail map to explore the palace gardens and find the Lindt Gold Bunny statues that are hiding there. Plus, match up the name of the important palace character on the trail to the red ribbon on the bunny statue at each location.

Explore the whole of Hampton Court Palace – not forgetting the Magic Garden, Maze and gardens. When you’re done, collect a Lindt Gold Bunny chocolate as a reward at the end.

Painshill Park Easter Trail

Big Easter Egg Statue Trail – 16 March – 14 April 2024 – 10:00 am – 6:00 pm

Giant eggs are waiting to be found in the Painshill landscape this Easter. Visit and see if you can find all the colourful characters.

Visiting Painshill Park After Lockdown Easter Holidays in Surrey

Gatton Park – Redhill, Reigate, Surrey RH2 0TW

Easter Egg Hunt – 29th March 2024 & 1st April 2024

Included in the cost of admission, visit Gatton Park this Easter for a springtime stroll and join in with the Easter trails and fun activities. With the Japanese Garden, Rock Garden and fantastic children’s wild trails to explore, it’s a great day out for the whole family.

Squires Garden Centre

Bunny Hunt2 April 2024 – 12 April 2024 – Weekdays only excludes bank holidays – Badshot Lea, Chobham, Frensham, Hersham, Long Ditton, Milford, Reigate, West Horsley, Woking

Easter Holidays in Surrey

Albury Vineyard – Silent Pool, Shere Road, Albury, Surrey GU5 9BW

Easter Trail – 29th March to 1st April 2024 – 11am – 4pm

Enjoy a self guided vineyard tour this Easter. With stunning views over the Surrey Hills and a great opportunity to find out more about English wine! The kids will love the Easter themed trail and they get a chocolate treat at the end too. Dogs on leads welcome.

Cost: £5 per person and each adult will be given a £5 voucher to redeem against shop purchases.

Wherever you are in Surrey, there’s bound to be somewhere nearby with organised activities to keep your children entertained over the holidays. Here are a few suggestions of things to do in the Easter holidays in Surrey:

Squires Garden Centre

Plant three colourful plants in a wicker basket decorated with a raffia bow, to create a lovely Easter gift or place in your garden.

If you fancy going for afternoon tea as an Easter treat there are plenty of places to choose from and these guides may help you find somewhere perfect!

Funfairs

Hampton Court Fun Fair – 28th March 2024 to 2nd April 2024

The annual Hampton Court Funfair is crammed with family fun, with so many children’s rides, traditional games and stalls, a wonderful carousel and even a ferris wheel. It’s a real tradition that has entertained families through generations for over 150 years.

Days Out with Easter Activities in Surrey

Bocketts Farm

Easter Eggstravaganza – 29 March 2024 – 14 April 2024 – Young Street, Fetcham, Leatherhead, Surrey KT22 9BS

Getting right into spring on Bocketts Farm. Leisure centres can be a fantastic place to spend time as a family and they’ve come far over recent times, now having so much more than just swimming pools. Many have climbing facilities, soft play centres and even trampoline parks within them! Here are all the ones in Surrey to choose from:

Most cinemas have reduced tickets at weekends and in school holidays, a great budget activity that the whole family can enjoy together

With special Odeon Kids screenings of the most spellbinding fairy tales and animated films, grown-ups pay kids’ ticket prices, making it a great value day out for the whole family.

There are many other cinemas in Surrey – Everyman, Empire and Harlequin to name a few, but they all seem to have the same ticket prices and offerings during school holidays.

If you need to work over the holidays and need childcare then holiday clubs are a really popular idea – and there are so many across Surrey that you’re bound to find one perfect for your children that’s close to where you live or work.
