It’s always nice to do something different over the school holidays, have a nice day out and some quality time together. Easter is one of our favourite school holidays and so I thought I’d put together some ideas of things to do over Easter, like Easter events in Surrey, day out ideas and Easter trails in Surrey.

When are the school holidays at Easter in Surrey?

The Surrey school holidays this Easter run from 7th to 21st April 2025. Easter Monday is at the end of the holidays this year, on Monday 21st April. However, friends in neighbouring counties often have different school holiday dates.

You can check the Surrey County Council term dates for the current academic year here and it’s best to check your school website too in case there are any inconsistencies with the spring term or at any other point through the year.

Easter is a great time to go on holiday and I know many people choose Easter for big, memorable holidays like Disney World or even Easter ski holidays, picking it as a great time to make memories the whole family will never forget. But, if you’re staying close to home this Easter, here are some ideas to pass the time:

Aside from generic days out, there are so many events and fun activities happening through the Easter holidays in Surrey. Here are so many ideas of how your family can spend the Easter break.

Easter Trails and Easter Egg Hunts in Surrey

If you’re just looking for Easter family days out then we have a lot of inspiration for you and these posts should be helpful:

National Trust Easter Trails

Have an Easter adventure as you make your way along the trail and find nature-inspired activities for the whole family. Come along and explore the beautiful National Trust parks and gardens.

Cost: The trail is £3.50 per child and you get a trail map, pencil and a chocolate egg at the end.

RHS Garden Wisley – Wisley Ln, Wisley, Woking GU23 6QB

Easter Holidays – Giant Egg Hunt – 5th to 21st April 2025 – 10am -5pm

Included in the cost of RHS Garden Wisley, and free for members, the Giant Egg Hunt is a great day out for the whole family. Discover the enormous painted eggs hidden around the garden and join in planting or craft workshops in the CLORE Learning Centre with daily Easter activities.

Plus, get to explore all that Wisley has to offer – The Laboratory, the beautiful Mixed Borders, Battleston Hill, The Bowes-Lyon Rose Garden, The Rock Garden, Oakwood, the incredible Glass House and so much more.

Easter Holidays in Surrey

Kew Gardens Easter Trail

The Supertato Trail – 5th to 21st April 2025

Get ready for a spud-tastic family day out at Kew Gardens with Supertato and his heroic veggie friends! Based on the bestselling books by Sue Hendra and Paul Linnet, this fun-filled event invites kids to join Supertato’s Super Squad, thwart the Evil Pea and save veggies in distress.

Hampton Court Palace – Hampton Ct Way, Molesey, East Molesey KT8 9AU

The Lindt Gold Bunny Hunt – 29th March – 21 April 2025

Included with the cost of admission, and members go free, The Lindt Gold Bunny hunt is back at Hampton Court Palace this Easter! Find the Lindt Gold Bunny and discover the stories of fascinating people who visited, lived and worked at Hampton Court Palace in years gone by.

Use the trail map to explore the palace gardens and find the Lindt Gold Bunny statues that are hiding there. Plus, match up the name of the important palace character on the trail to the red ribbon on the bunny statue at each location.

Explore the whole of Hampton Court Palace – not forgetting the Magic Garden, Maze and gardens. When you’re done, collect a Lindt Gold Bunny chocolate as a reward at the end.

Painshill Park Easter Trail

Easter Bunnies Trail – 5th to 27th April 2025 – 10:00 am – 6:00 pm

Giant eggs are waiting to be found in the Painshill landscape this Easter. Visit and see if you can find all the colourful characters.

Visiting Painshill Park After Lockdown Easter Holidays in Surrey

Gatton Park – Redhill, Reigate, Surrey RH2 0TW

Easter Egg Hunt – 18th April 2025 and 21st April 2025

Included in the cost of admission, visit Gatton Park this Easter for a springtime stroll and join in with the Easter trails and fun activities. With the Japanese Garden, Rock Garden and fantastic children’s wild trails to explore, it’s a great day out for the whole family.

Easter Holidays in Surrey

Squires Garden Centre

Spring Flower Hunt – 7th – 17th April 2025 – Weekdays only excludes bank holidays – Badshot Lea, Chobham, Frensham, Hersham, Long Ditton, Milford, Reigate, West Horsley, Woking

Follow the clues around the centre to help find the magic word. No booking required.

Cost: £2.50 including a chocolate treat at the end!

Easter Holidays in Surrey

Albury Vineyard – Silent Pool, Shere Road, Albury, Surrey GU5 9BW

Easter Trail – 18th to 21st April 2025 – 11am – 4pm

Enjoy a self guided vineyard tour this Easter. With stunning views over the Surrey Hills and a great opportunity to find out more about English wine! The kids will love the Easter themed trail and they get a chocolate treat at the end too. Dogs on leads welcome.

Cost: £5 per person and each adult will be given a £5 voucher to redeem against shop purchases.

Easter Activities in Surrey

Wherever you are in Surrey, there’s bound to be somewhere nearby with organised activities to keep your children entertained over the holidays. Here are a few suggestions of things to do in the Easter holidays in Surrey:

Squires Garden Centre

Plant a colourful Easter basket – 7th – 17th April 2025 – Weekdays only excludes bank holidays – Badshot Lea, Chobham, Frensham, Hersham, Long Ditton, Milford, Reigate, West Horsley, Woking

Plant three colourful plants in a wicker basket decorated with a raffia bow, to create a lovely Easter gift or place in your garden.

Afternoon Tea

If you fancy going for afternoon tea as an Easter treat there are plenty of places to choose from and these guides may help you find somewhere perfect!

Funfairs

Hampton Court Fun Fair – 17th to 22nd April 2025

The annual Hampton Court Funfair is crammed with family fun, with so many children’s rides, traditional games and stalls, a wonderful carousel and even a ferris wheel. It’s a real tradition that has entertained families through generations for over 150 years.

Days Out with Easter Activities in Surrey

Bocketts Farm

Easter Eggstravaganza – 5th to 21st April 2025 – Young Street, Fetcham, Leatherhead, Surrey KT22 9BS

Getting right into spring on Bocketts Farm. With hundreds of gorgeous baby lambs due, meet chicks and bunnies in Small Animal Encounters sessions, explore acres of outdoor play, enjoy the Tractor and Trailer Ride, get creative in Craft Corner, watch live shows in the Easter garden and there’s even a Spring Trail to complete with chocolate treats at the end.

Brooklands Museum

If you want to get outside this Easter but you don’t really know where, we love Treasure Trails. It’s an adventure that the whole family can get involved in. Leisure centres can be a fantastic place to spend time as a family and they’ve come far over recent times, now having so much more than just swimming pools. Many have climbing facilities, soft play centres and even trampoline parks within them! Here are all the ones in Surrey to choose from:

Shopping centres are a great place to spend time. You can wander round the shops, grab some lunch and there are often organised activities and events in to make the most of as well.

Cinemas in Surrey

Most cinemas have reduced tickets at weekends and in school holidays, a great budget activity that the whole family can enjoy together

Vue – Mighty Mornings – Camberley – Croydon – Staines

At Vue’s Mini Mornings you can see the best kids and family films from only £2.49 each. Mini Mornings run every Saturday and Sunday morning from 10am plus every day in the school holidays.

Easter Holidays in Surrey

Odeon – Odeon Kids – Kingston – Epsom – Guildford

With special Odeon Kids screenings of the most spellbinding fairy tales and animated films, grown-ups pay kids’ ticket prices, making it a great value day out for the whole family.

There are many other cinemas in Surrey – Everyman, Empire and Harlequin to name a few, but they all seem to have the same ticket prices and offerings during school holidays.

Holiday Clubs in Surrey

If you need to work over the holidays and need childcare then holiday clubs are a really popular idea – and there are so many across Surrey that you’re bound to find one perfect for your children that’s close to where you live or work.
