The Best Rides at Legoland Across the World

We have now been to three Legoland parks internationally as well as two Legoland Discovery Centres in the UK. As you can imagine, we’ve been on more than our fair share of Legoland rides and so I thought I’d give a run down of the best rides at Legoland from our experience of visiting with our children over the last few years.
For each ride I’ll share a little about it, any height or age restrictions and which parks it can be found at across the globe. Some rides are the same but have different names so I’ve made a note of what the ride is called at each park. I’ll update this post with new rides as they get announced.
The Best Legoland Rides
Aero Nomad
Windsor
This ride is a desert themed ferris wheel where each carriage is a desert balloon. Hop inside a desert baskets for an uplifting ride, perfect for explorers on a mission! It gives a fantastic view of the Kingdom of the Pharaohs.
Restrictions: No minimum height restriction. You must be a minimum of 1.3m to ride without being accompanied by a responsible person at least 16 years of age. The ride is wheelchair accessible and guests can remain in their wheelchair for the duration of the ride. Each carriage can hold 7 people with a maximum of 5 adults per gondola. One adult can supervise up to 5 children.
Anchors Away
Billund (Pirate Wave Breaker), Windsor (Destiny’s Bounty), New York, California (Captain Cranky’s Challenge), Japan, Deutschland (Pirate School)
This classic ship ride takes on many designs across the Legoland parks. The ride takes you on a wild expedition in a wave-breaking ship that rolls, tilts and turns.
Restrictions: Minimum height 90cm. You must be a minimum of 1.3m to ride without being accompanied by a responsible person at least 16 years of age. Each row accommodates up to 4 guests and there is a maximum of 8 adults per ride.
Apocalypseburg Sky Battle
Billund
The Apocalypseburg Sky Battle takes you on a fast 360 degree adventure. Fight the DUPLO® invasion in an interactive ride when you are hoisted 14 meters into the air in your own plane, flying upside down, making loops and turning 360 degrees.
Restrictions: Minimum height 130 cm. Maximum height 195 cm
Aquazone® Wave Racers
Florida, Billund (Jungle Racers), Windsor (Hydra’s Challenge), New York (Rogue Riders), Japan (Squid Surfer), Deutschland (Wave Rider), Dubai, Malaysia
Although this ride takes on different designs in different parks, it’s the same great ride each time. Race through the waves in and dodge water blasts, spinning from side to side as you go.
Restrictions: You must be a minimum of 1m to ride. You must be a minimum of 1.3m to ride without being accompanied by a responsible person at least 16 years of age. Riders will get wet.
Beetle Bounce
Florida, California, Japan, Billund (Frog Hopper), Windsor (Scarab Bouncers), Dubai, Malaysia
This is a ride that everyone knows and loves despite the design differing across the Legoland parks. Launch 15-feet up toward the top of the ride and then hop and drop your way down.
Restrictions: You must be a minimum of 90cm to ride.
Balloon School
Windsor, Deutschland (Desert X-cursion)
At Balloon School you step aboard your very own LEGO® hot air balloon and control how high you sail using the controls in the carriage.
Restrictions: No minimum height restriction. You must be at least 1.3m to ride without being accompanied by a responsible person at least 16 years of age
Brick Party
Florida (The Grand Carousel), Windsor (Desert Chase), New York, Japan, California (Queen Watevra’s Carousel), Billund (Western Ride)
The majority of the Legoland parks have a classic carousel ride – either featuring traditional horses or Lego bricks and figures. Great fun – especially for little ones.
Restrictions: There is no minimum height restriction. You must be a minimum of 1.3m to ride without being accompanied by a responsible person at least 16 years of age. There is a maximum of 1 guest per horse, maximum of 4 guests per tea cup and there is a maximum of 4 guests per rocking carriage. One adult can supervise up to 2 children.
Canoe X-pedition
Deutschland
This Canoe X-pedition in the Land of Adventures takes you along a gentle stream through the breeding grounds of long extinct dinosaurs. You can control the rhythm of the canoe with your paddle and admire the dinosaurs you spot along the way.
Restrictions: Minimum height 80 cm. Minimum height to ride unaccompanied by an adult 90cm. Maximum height 130cm.
Cargo Ace
California, Japan, Billund
Cargo Ace is a flying adventure for young pilots as they bank their planes and soar through the air!
Restrictions: Riders under 36″ must be accompanied by a responsible rider at least 14 years old and 36″ tall. Riders must be able to stand to use the ride.
City Airport
Japan, Deutschland, Dubai, Malaysia, Windsor, California
This classic ride is a hit with all ages but especially young children. Pick a plane at the city airport and enjoy making it fly higher or lower and turn left and right too.
Restrictions: Those who are 80 cm or more and less than 130 cm need to be accompanied. Recommended for 3-5 years old
Coast Guard Academy
Florida, Billund (Mini Boats), Windsor, New York, California (Skipper School), Japan, Deutschland (Harbour Cruise), Dubai (Boating School), Malaysia (Boating School)
This is one of the most popular rides across the Legoland parks. You captain your own boat and put your navigating skills to the test on LEGO themed boats through the waters of the Coast Guard Academy. It’s usually a sailing adventure where other visitors can watch you navigate the waterways whilst you admire all the Lego creations you pass en route.
Restrictions: No minimum height. You must be a minimum of 1.3m to ride without being accompanied by a responsible person at least 16 years of age. Guests are required to press the foot pedals and steer the boat. Each boat accommodates a minimum of 2 guests and a maximum of 3 guests. Maximum 2 adults per boat
Coastersaurus Roller Coaster
Florida, California
One of our favourite rides at Legoland Florida, Coastersaurus is a wild ride through the jungle. A traditional wooden coaster, it is perfect for the whole family with curves and dips in and around life-sized LEGO brick dinosaurs.
Restrictions: Minimum rider height is 42 inches.
The Dragon
Florida, Billund, Windsor, New York, California, Japan, Deutschland, Dubai, Malaysia
This is another fantastic rollercoaster that any Legoland visitor will be familiar with. Both indoor and outdoor and full of twists and turns, it’s a ride the whole family will love.
Restrictions: You must be a minimum of 1m to ride. You must be a minimum of 1.3m to ride without being accompanied by a responsible person at least 16 years of age. Children must sit on the left of the ride unit. There is a maximum of 2 guests per row.
Dragon’s Apprentice
Windsor, New York, Japan, Deutschland (Dragon Hunt), Dubai, Malaysia
A smaller version of the Dragon rollercoaster, the Dragon’s Apprentice ride is great for younger knights in training who will one day be ready to take on the fully grown Dragon ride.
Restrictions: You must be a minimum of 90cm to ride. You must be a minimum of 1.3m to ride without being accompanied by a responsible person at least 16 years of age. There is a maximum of 6 adults per train. Only a maximum of 2 Guests per row. Children must sit on the right-hand side.
Driving School
Florida (Ford Driving School), Billund (Renault Traffic School), Windsor (LEGO® City Driving School), New York, California, Japan, Deutschland, Dubai, Malaysia
A must for any Lego fan, learn the rules of the road in the Lego Driving School and show off your skills with a personalised Legoland Driver’s Licence.
Restrictions: Additional charge applies for the driving licence. May need to be booked in advance – check Legoland website for details. You must be between 1.1m and 1.5m in height to ride (not suitable for guests aged over 13 years). Guests are required to press the foot pedals and steer the car. There is a maximum on 1 guest per car.
Dune Raiders
California
This classic slide ride lets up to six people race at once. Grab a sack and get ready to race!
Restrictions: Rider must be at least 36″ inches to ride.
DUPLO® Dino Coaster
Windsor
The world’s first DUPLO coaster is a great introduction to rollercoasters for little ones. Bright and colourful, it’s a must wide at Windsor!
Restrictions: You must be a minimum of 0.9m to ride, guests under 1.3m must be accompanied by a responsible adult. There is a maximum of 5 adults per train
DUPLO® Express Train
Florida, Billund, Windsor, New York, California, Japan, Deutschland, Dubai, Malaysia
This Lego Duplo train ride has been a hit with our children since they were toddlers. A great ride for little ones, it’s a bright and colourful, exciting trip surrounded by Lego creations.
Restrictions: No minimum height. You must be a minimum of 0.9m to ride without being accompanied by a responsible person at least 16 years of age
DUPLO® Tractor
Florida
Young farmers can ride on a Duplo tractor surrounded by Lego farm animals and help plow the corn fields of DUPLO Valley.
Restrictions: Children under 42” must ride with a responsible person 48” or taller and ensuring the child’s safety. Responsible person age 14 years older required.
Emmet’s Flying Adventure – Masters of Flight
California, Florida (THE LEGO® MOVIE™ Masters of Flight), Billund, Windsor (Flight of the Sky Lion)
This ride is incredible! Fly through LEGO universes from THE LEGO® MOVIE™ with Emmet & the gang on Emmet’s Triple-Decker flying couch invention on this indoor theater ride! You feel like you’re in a movie as it really transports you to another world. A really immersive ride.
Restrictions: Minimum rider height is 40 inches. Guests less than 52 inches must be accompanied by a responsible rider 14 years of age or older.
Fairy Tale Brook
California, Billund (Pirate Boats), Windsor, California (Coast Cruise)
This simple boat ride comes in many different forms across the parks – from a fairytale ride to pirate theme. But, in each park the ride doesn’t need you to steer or pedal – just sit back and enjoy the amazing Lego surroundings.
Restrictions: No minimum height. You must be a minimum of 1.3m to ride without being accompanied by a responsible person at least 16 years of age.
Fire Academy / Rescue Academy
Florida, Billund (Fire Brigade), Windsor, New York, California (Fun Town Police and Fire Academy), Japan, Deutschland (Pyramid Rally), Dubai, Malaysia
Race to put out a fire in this fast and furious activity for the whole family. Work together as a team to move the fire truck and then hose out the fire to save the day.
Restrictions: You must be a minimum of 0.9m to ride. You must be a minimum of 1.3m to ride without being accompanied by a responsible person at least 16 years of age. Each ride accommodates up to 4 guests. There is a minimum of 2 guests per vehicle to allow operation.
Flying Eagle
Billund
This fantastic rollercoaster is fun and fast! The Flying Eagle zooms around the track and it’s one the whole family really enjoyed.
Restrictions: Minimum height 100 cm. Minimum height 120 cm without an adult
Flying Ninjago
Japan, Deutschland
Take off and experience breathtaking adventures on the back of your dragon. Fly through the air up to 22 metres from the ground and at up to 50 km per hour.
Restrictions: Riders must be at least 125 cm tall and over 7 years of age. Maximum height is 195 cm.
Flying School
Florida
This suspended coaster is one of our favourite rides across the Legoland parks. It’s like nothing else and you really do feel like you are flying, suspended from the bar above and with your legs dangling!
Restrictions: Minimum rider height is 44 inches. Guests between 44-52 inches must be accompanied by a responsible rider 14 years or older in the same row.
Ghost – The Haunted House
Billund
This experience is part ride, part walkthrough. Enter the house and navigate halloween-like scenes full of Lego figures, lights and effects before working your way through the maze of mirrors. You then have the chance to leave the house – or go on the ride. It’s a classic drop ride that we felt was hyped up more than it should have been. The ride was pretty tame really.
Restrictions: Minimum height 130 cm without an adult accompanying.
The Great LEGO® Race
Florida, Malaysia, Deutschland (No VR), Billund (X-Treme Racers, no VR), California (Lego Technic Coaster – no VR)
This fantastic rollercoaster ride is at a few parks but in Florida and Malaysia it has the bonus of a VR headset – which definitely adds to the experience!
Restrictions: Minimum rider height is 42 inches to ride without virtual reality headsets. Minimum rider height is 48 inches to ride with the virtual reality headsets. Riders between 42 – 48 inches must be accompanied by a responsible rider 14 years of age or older in the same vehicle and neither rider may not ride with the virtual reality headset.
Haunted House Monster Party
Windsor
This haunted house ride is a mildly scary ride that the whole family can enjoy together.. It’s themed around Lord Vampyre’s Haunted House Monster Party and kids will love it – especially when it feels like they’re going upside down!
Restrictions: Age 3+. You must be a minimum of 90cm to ride. You must be a minimum of 1.2m to ride without being accompanied by a responsible person at least 16 years of age. This ride contains strobe and flashing lights.
The Hill Train
Windsor
The Hill Train is a perfect excuse to sit back and enjoy views of the park as you travel up the hill. A great mode of transport as well as a ride, it’s the perfect way to travel back to the start of the park after hours of rides and Legoland fun.
Restrictions: There is no minimum height restriction. You must be a minimum of 1.3m to ride without being accompanied by a responsible person at least 16 years of age. This ride is wheelchair accessible. Guests can remain in their wheelchair for the duration of the ride
Ice Pilots School
Billund, Deutschland (Power Builder)
This fantastic ride lets you build your very own flight experience on a touch screen. You can have a more relaxed and tame experience or a fast and furious one – the choice is yours. How much you like this ride will be very much down to the experience you choose – our family definitely had mixed feelings about it!
Restrictions: Minimum height 120 cm. Maximum height 195 cm.
Jolly Rocker
Windsor
This classic swinging ship ride will make even the most daring of riders feel their stomach in their mouth. It’s great fun and a real tradition of a ride, one that the kids will love.
Restrictions: You must be a minimum of 1m to ride. You must be a minimum of 1.3m to ride without being accompanied by a responsible person at least 16 years of age. 2 adults can ride with up to 5 children. Adults will need to sit on the end seats.
Junior Driving School
Florida, Windsor (L-Drivers), New York, California, Japan, Deutschland, Dubai, Malaysia
A driving school experience for the youngest of visitors. Learn to drive around a simple track and have the chance to purchase a driving licence at the end.
Restrictions: This ride is for little drivers between 0.9m and 1.1m in height. Guests are required to press the foot pedals and steer the car. There is a maximum on 1 guest per car
Kai Sky Master
Japan
A fantastic flying ride with a challenge! Take to the skies with the Lego Ninjago characters! Steer your vehicle and shoot at targets and other vehicles to see who can get the most points.
Restrictions: Those who are 90 cm or more and less than 130 cm need to be accompanied. No age limit
Kid Power Towers
Florida, California, Billund (The Lighthouse), New York (Tower Climb Tournament), Japan (Cat Cloud Busters), Dubai, Malaysia
This ride is so much fun and a staple at most Legoland parks. Pull yourself up to the top of the tower to enjoy an aerial view of the park before you drop back down to land.
Restrictions: Minimum rider height is 30 inches. Guests less than 42 inches must be accompanied by a responsible rider 14 years of age or older.
Legondol®
Billund
This fun mini ferris wheel lets you see Legoland from above. Even the smallest of the family will enjoy this slow and steady ride.
Restrictions: Children under 90 cm must be accompanied by a responsible person
LEGO® Canoe
Billund, Windsor (Pirate Falls Treasure Quest), Deutschland (Jungle X-pedition), Malaysia (Dino Island)
This fantastic canoe ride takes you on a leisurely meander around the wilds of Legoland, past so many animals and characters before dropping you down a waterfall, causing a splash at the bottom. This is always a real favourite Legoland ride.
Restrictions: Children between 100-120 cm must be accompanied by an adult. Minimum height 120cm to ride unaccompanied.
LEGO® City Deep Sea Adventure
Windsor, California, Japan (Submarine Adventure), Dubai
This great submarine adventure takes riders on a leisurely trip underwater. With viewing windows you’ll see a mix of Lego sea creatures and real ones moving alongside the submarine. It feels like a real adventure!
Restrictions: No minimum height restriction. You must be a minimum of 1.3m to ride without being accompanied by a responsible person at least 16 years of age. Each submarine accommodates up to 14 guests. This ride contains strobe lighting and is not suitable for those with claustrophobia
LEGO® Factory Adventure Ride
New York
In this adventure tour you can find out what it’s like to be a LEGO® Minifigure. You’ll be magically shrunk to miniature size and be right in the action of Lego bricks being created!
Restrictions: No minimum height requirement. Guests less than 52 inches tall must be accompanied by a supervising companion.
LEGO® NINJAGO® The Ride
Florida, Billund, Windsor, New York, Deutschland, Malaysia
This ride lets you become the ninja as you blast animated fireballs, lightning and baddies before you defeat the Great Devourer! A really interactive ride that children will love – but it takes real skill to get a high score!
Restrictions: No minimum height requirement, 48” unaccompanied height requirement, anyone under 48” must be accompanied by a responsible person age 14 or up.
Lloyds Laser Labyrinth
Billund
In Lloyd’s Laser Labyrinth you climb and sneak through a whole tunnel of laser beams. You can compete against family and friends and with three levels of difficulty you can compete against your own previous scores too!
Restrictions: No restrictions – unsupervised activity.
Legoland Express
Billund (LEGO® Train), Windsor, Deutschland, Malaysia
This fantastic train ride takes you on an adventure around the Legoland park so you can see all the rides and Lego creations along the way. Plus, there are often crossings where you can wave to other park visitors who are waiting to cross!
Restrictions: There is no minimum height restriction. You must be 1.3m to ride without being accompanied by a responsible person at least 16 years of age. This ride is wheelchair accessible. Guests can remain in their wheelchair for the duration of the ride. Each seat row accommodates up to 4 guests.
Lloyd Spin Technique Spinner
Japan, Deutschland
Take a ride in Lloyd’s Spinjitzu Spinner where you’ll experience what it feels like to master the Spinjitzu spin! You control how much you make the ride spin and can even try a 360° roll in the air!
Restrictions: Those who are 105 cm or more and less than 130 cm need to be accompanied. Children must be over 4 years old
Lost Kingdom Adventure
Florida, California, Japan, Billund (The Temple), Windsor (Laser Raiders), Deutschland (Temple X-Pedition), Dubai, Malaysia
This indoor laser ride is a fantastic adventure for the whole family. Shoot at the baddies, treasure and characters and make sure you keep track of your points to see if you get the highest score!
Restrictions: Minimum rider height is 30 inches. Guests less than 42 inches must be accompanied by a responsible rider 14 years of age or older.
Merlin’s Challenge
Florida, Japan, Malaysia, Deutschland (Caterpillar), Billund (Caterpillar), Windsor, New York (Jay’s Gravity Force Challenge)
This little ride is quite like a circular rollercoaster, going up and down around a central point. Great for the whole family, it gives young children a great rollercoaster experience.
Restrictions: You must be a minimum of 0.9m to ride. You must be a minimum of 1.3m to ride without being accompanied by a responsible person at least 16 years of age. Each ride accommodates up to 2 guests. There is a maximum of 1 adult per row, accompanying adults must sit on the left-hand side. This ride can contain strobe and flashing lights at some locations.
Merlin’s Flying Machines
Florida (Technicycle), New York, Japan
This ride lets you show off your pedal power as you pedal faster to go higher and relax to slowly drift back towards the ground.
Restrictions: Minimum rider height is 36 inches. Guests between 36-48 inches must be accompanied by a responsible rider 14 years of age or older in the same ride unit.
Mia’s Riding Adventure
Florida, Windsor
This exciting disc coaster ride is a thrilling addition to Legoland and one the kids love. Pick your favourite horse, saddle up and fly through the sky. It goes so high and spins so fast. A real adrenaline fuelled ride.
Restrictions: You must be a minimum of 1.2m to ride. Only one person per seat. Guests must be secured in the ride seat; this may not be possible for torso measurements approaching 51 inches.
Monorail
Billund
The Monorail at Legoland Billund gives a fantastic overview of the park and goes at a nice speed to make it both exciting and leisurely. It’s definitely one of our favourites.
Restrictions: Children under 110cm must be accompanied by an adult.
Observation Tower
Billund (LEGOTOP®), Japan, Deutschland, Malaysia
Take the whole family up the observation tower to see 360 degree views of Legoland from a great height. Giving fantastic views of Legoland and the local area, it’s a great addition to the park.
Restrictions: Children under 90 cm must be accompanied by a responsible person
Pedal-A-Car
Deutschland
A pedal powered monorail style ride, you pedal the car to move along the track and see Legoland from above. A great attraction that the whole family will love.
Restrictions: Minimum height: 90 cm and minimum age 4 years. Children under 120cm must be accompanied by an adult.
Pirate Reef
California
Play your part on this high seas adventure as you fire water cannons across the ships’ bows. You can even join a buccaneer-filled boat as it races down a flume between the battling ships.
Restrictions: Rider must be at least 36″ to ride. Rider between 36″ – 42″ must be accompanied by a responsible rider at least 14 years old and 42″ or taller.
Polar X-plorer
Billund
This snowmobile themed rollercoaster is fantastic! Really fast and with lots of twists, it has a really adrenalin filled ending where you fall 5 meters through the on to the track below!
Restrictions: Minimum height 120cm and minimum height 130cm to ride without an adult.
Royal Joust
Florida, California, Deutschland (Jousting Tournament), Malaysia
Take part in a Royal Joust as you hop on to a Lego horse and make your way around a track. Great excitement for young knights!
Restrictions: Minimum rider height 36 inches and minimum age 4 years. Maximum age 12 and maximum weight 170 lbs.
Safari Trek
Florida, Billund, California, Deutschland
This fantastic ride lets you go on a Lego safri as you make your way around the path, spotting Lego animals in all directions.
Restrictions: Minimum rider height is 34 inches. Guests 44 inches or more, must be at least 6 years old to ride unaccompanied, all riders under 44 inches or 6 years old must be accompanied by a responsible person age 14 or up.
Sky Rider
Windsor
The gentle Sky Rider gives fantastic views of Miniland from 20 feet above the ground. A nice, relaxing monorail style experience at the start of your day.
Restrictions: You must be a minimum of 90cm to ride. You must be a minimum of 1.3m to ride without being accompanied by a responsible person at least 16 years of age. Each car accommodates up to 3 guests. There is a maximum of 2 adults per car.
Technic Twister
Billund (Pirate Carousel), Windsor (Spinning Spider), New York (DJ’s Dizzy Disco Spin), California (Bionicle Blaster), Japan (Imagination Celebration), Deutschland (Techno Slingshot), Dubai, Malaysia
A twist on a classic teacups ride, this spinning ride comes in so many different styles between the park. But, it’s consistently great fun whether you’re in barrels or Lego bricks!
Restrictions: To ride alone, rider must be above 6 years old with a min height of 120cm. Rider between 105cm to 120cm and between 4 to 6 years old must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
Thunder Blazer
Windsor
Buckle up and enjoy the sensation of flying through the air on the magical Thunder Blazer ride. A classic swinging chair ride that all adventurers will love.
Restrictions: You must be a minimum of 90cm to ride
Unikitty’s Disco Drop
Florida, Billund, California, Windsor (Fire and Ice Freefall)
This is a great ride that comes in a few different designs. Much like the Beetle Bounce, this takes you up and drops you down – whilst also spinning you around!
Restrictions: Minimum rider height is 40 inches. Guests less than 48 inches must be accompanied by a responsible rider 14 years of age or older.
Vikings River Splash
Billund, Windsor
A fantastic water ride that takes you over rapids, down waterfalls and around so many waterways. It’s a great ride where you’re bound to get wet!
Restrictions: You must be a minimum of 1.1m to ride. You must be a minimum of 1.3m to ride without being accompanied by a responsible person at least 16 years of age. There may be no step free access to this attraction. This ride may contain strobe and flashing lights. Each raft accommodates up to 6 guests per raft.
So there you have all the rides across the Legoland parks. There are also many creative areas for Lego building, water parks and so many play areas across the parks too – with playgrounds and even soft play in abundance. One thing is for sure, any Legoland is a great day out for any family – and any Lego fan!
