Every time we’ve been to Florida we have visited Legoland Florida. It is such a great day out and so different to Legoland Windsor in the UK or even the original Legoland, Legoland Billund in Denmark. If you are a fan of Lego or love Legoland then Legoland Florida is a must visit if you’re planning an Orlando vacation.
I thought I’d put together ten things you can do at Legoland Florida that make it a super fun day out. You can also read the review from our very first Legoland Florida trip here.
10 Things to do at Legoland Florida
Miniland USA
A visit to Legoland Florida isn’t complete without a trip to Miniland USA. Explore California, Las Vegas, New York City, and Washington D.C. all in one place, made from Lego bricks! Featuring over 32 million Lego bricks, it is full of amazing scenes that cover pretty much the whole of America. It also now has a shade over the majority of it, meaning you can spend as long as you like there whilst getting out of the sun!
Learn to drive
One of the most popular rides at any Legoland park is the learner driver experience! With the Jr. Driving School for age 3-5 and the standard Driving School for ages 6-13, it’s great fun and you can even buy a souvenir drivers license afterwards too!
Play areas and soft play
Legoland can be a really busy, full on day out and so it’s great to find play areas and soft play options, where parents can relax whilst the children play. Legoland Florida has a few places like this that children will love:
- Benny’s Play Ship – A giant spaceship play-ship playground
- Duplo Valley Schoolhouse – An indoor space full of soft-play activities, an interactive touchscreen and a stage for exciting entertainment.
- Pharaoh’s Revenge Land of Adventure – A great soft play playground where kids can climb up, crawl through, slide down, cross over and swing around on ropes, ladders and tunnels.
- Duplo Tot Spot – Designed for children under the age of two, it features a small slide and colourful playhouse. This a fun, exciting play area that is safe and secure for little DUPLO guests.
Play with Lego
No Lego themed day out is complete without a chance to play with Lego, let your imaginations run wild and get creative! Legoland Florida has so many Lego building opportunties:
- Imagination Zone – Unleash the power of play at Imagination Zone, which is filled with amazing hands-on LEGO® activities #BuiltForKids! Next to the outdoor Kid Power Towers attraction, guests will discover a cool indoor space filled with colorful furnishings, floor-to-ceiling graphics, several awesomely themed “zones” and thousands of LEGO bricks awaiting assembly into whatever you can imagine!
- Lego Dreamzzz – Unleash your imagination and build creatures from the Dream World and Nightmare Realm in this interactive LEGO build experience.
- Lego Ferrari Build and Race – See a life-size Ferrari made from over 400,000 Lego bricks and enjoy the build zone and create your own Lego Ferrari race car before trying it out in the test zone.
- Rebuild the World – Visit Planet Legoland where anything can happen. Let your imagination run wild. Build, unbuild, rebuild and leave your mark on our world!
Enjoy the wet rides and attractions
Legoland Florida, especially in the summer, is a really hot day out. Thankfully there are water rides and attractions that can help you cool off and add a whole new level of fun to the day out!
- Duplo Splash and Play – This is a fun, refreshing play area with intermittent water spouts and interactive water elements set among larger than life farm animals.
- Battle of Bricksburg – Beware, you will get wet! on the Battle of Bricksburg water ride, riders are challenged to help defend Bricksburg by spraying the evil DUPLO alien invaders with water and help stop them from invading and stealing LEGO bricks. The riders aren’t the only ones who can enjoy playing in the water, outside of the ride will be water cannons for guests to spray and help the riders save the day.
- Aquazone Wave Racers – Feel the wind in your hair and spray in your face as you race the waves steer yourself around to dodge the water blasts. Getting wet has never been so much fun!
See a 4D show
Seeing a Lego movie at Legoland is a great way to get out of the heat, rest your feet and have a break from the action. Plus the films are fantastic! At the moment there are three to choose from that are on throughout the day:
- Lego City 4D: Officer in Pursuit
- Lego Dreamzzz 4D: Z-Blob Rescue Rush
- Lego Friends 4D: Alien Inversion
See Brickbeard’s Watersports Stunt Show
One of our favourite parts of a day at Legoland Florida is seeing the .Brickbeard’s Watersports Stunt Show. I am sure it is, without a doubt, the best Legoland show across the globe. With jet skis, waterskiing, boats and more. It’s full of pirates, songs and audience participation – and you might get wet too! If you’re planning a visit to Legoland Florida, do not miss this show!
Explore the Botanical Gardens
Another part of Legoland Florida when you can slow down and relax a little is the Botanical Gardens. Beautiful and historic, the Cypress Gardens botanical gardens have been a Florida attraction since 1939. They are a horticultural masterpiece with exotic plants from all over the world including over 30 kinds of palms, ten different types of banana trees, 15 types of azaleas, 10 kinds of camelias and more, all kept in pristine condition. They also feature a giant Banyan tree that was planted all the way back in 1939!
Go on a Pirate River Quest
On our latest trip to Legoland Florida we discovered the Pirate River Quest which should not be missed! Unlike any other experience, you get to journey through the waters of the Cypress Gardens on a twenty minute adventure and discover the secrets protecting the canals. It’s a real highlight of a day at Legoland.
Enjoy the rides
And obviously, there are so many rides you can enjoy at Legoland Florida. From the fantastic wooden Coastersaurus, to the classic Ninjago ride, Coast Guard Academy and The Lego Movie Masters of Flight, there are literally dozens of rides for all ages and interests.
If that wasn’t enough you can also visit the Legoland Water Park and, coming soon, SEA LIFE Florida at the Legoland Florida Resort. And, Legoland is right next door to the Peppa Pig Theme Park as well! One day will never be enough so definitely think about booking a Legoland short break to have a real Legoland adventure!
