I love making sweet treats with mincemeat over the festive season and well into the New Year when we find a jar of mincemeat lurking in the back of the cupboard! Our latest creation is a twist on a classic mince pie, a Mincemeat Parcel recipe.

What do you need to make these Mince Pie Parcels?

To make these mincemeat parcels you use the same ingredients you’d use to make traditional British Christmas shortcrust pastry mince pies – shortcrust pastry and mincemeat. We use ready made pastry to save time but you can always make the pastry yourself and the same with mincemeat – with shop bought or homemade mincemeat can be used. Just use whatever you have at the time!

When using ready made pastry sheets, make sure you bring them to room temperature before starting to bake otherwise they crack and break really easily. If you only have sheets filo pastry then there are some great filo mince pie parcel recipes around too and puff pastry could work well too.

To finish this recipe, we use an egg wash and a sprinkling of caster sugar however, you could use milk and granulated sugar if you wanted and maybe even sprinkle a little icing sugar over the top when the mince parcels have cooled.

These easy sweet treats are great for Christmas but if you’re looking for other festive recipes to try here’s our Mincemeat Pinwheels, Sponge Topped Mince Pies and Mincemeat Loaf Cake.
