Siblings {August 2020}

I don’t know where the time is going at the moment. It feels like yesterday I shared our July siblings post and yet here we are halfway through August!

This time last month the summer holidays were about to start so we’ve spent the last few weeks in fully holiday mode – and it’s been lovely.

We were away for a week in Weymouth which was a really nice step back to normality for us. We hadn’t been away overnight for months which is so unusual for us and the children loved it.

They enjoyed their time on the beach, the splash park at the Sea Life Centre, playing in the Lodmoor Country Park playground and learning about Nothe Fort and the country’s coastal defences. It was a great week away.

We’ve also had some really lovely days out – Butser Farm, Finkley Down Farm, a Treasure Trail and some little trips to country parks and play areas. The children are really enjoying the slower pace this summer. We haven’t had a summer mainly at home since Little Man was a baby.

It’s so different for LP and Little Man. They’re getting time to just play, time to play in the sand and water table and time to just be at home. They have so many opportunities for sleepovers in each other’s rooms, movie nights and PJ days. This summer is full of simple pleasures that the children really appreciate.

August has been lovely so far and LP and Little Man are looking forward to much of the same before schools go back in September. They have loved their time together and there have been much less arguments and sibling issues than I thought there would be after nearly 5 months together. I think not having school work to do over the last few weeks have really helped ease any strain. Really, the last month has been lovely.
