Siblings {February 2014}

I started joining in with Siblings last month as a way of trying to capture my two children’s growing bond and last month’s photos were very much staged – Getting them both to sit and play on our bed together. This month is a whole new story. Little man has learnt to crawl and he is now intent on playing with his Sister whether she likes it or not!

I managed to catch on camera a spontaneous moment of affection between my gorgeous LP and Little Man, a combination of a hug and a squish from LP, with Little Man loving every minute of it.

Little Man loves his Sister, she makes him smile and laugh constantly for no reason at all, just by being there. LP loves her Brother. She’s still getting used to him, she still gets upset if he plays with her toys and sometimes she frets when he comes too close to her.

But other times, she’s happy to cuddle him, give him kisses, bring him toys and generally be there for him. She shows she loves him when she wants to.

Donna is happiest either exploring somewhere new, with her camera in her hand and family by her side or snuggled up with a cat on her lap, reading a book and enjoying a nice cup of tea. She firmly believes that tea and cake can fix most things.

    I tend to automatically opt for staged photos, but as you said, it’s the candid shots that are special and that capture a real moment, so I’m really trying to remember to have a mix of candid and more posed photos for the Siblings project.

  2. Oh these photos are lovely. What a doting big sister, and I love how proud the little man looks of all the attention he’s getting from his sister and mummy with the camera. These sort of unposed moments are what childhood is made of, how lovely to have captured them. x
