Bathtime {The Ordinary Moments}

I’m still not confident enough to bath both children by myself so we wait until Dave’s home to bath them together or LP will have her bath after dinner and we’ll bath Little Man in the afternoon when it fits in around other jobs that need doing, naps and meal times.

Little Man loved the bath when he was smaller but since being able to sit up he has spent every bath crying and not liking it at all. We bathed him recently and Dave managed to keep him smiling throughout the bath whilst I washed his hair, washed him and did all the mandatory bath tasks! Afterwards we decided to see if he’d play in the bath a while as he’s always been to upset sitting in the bath to stay long enough to play – It’s always just been a quick wash and out the bath again.

We gave Little Man a toy duck and he loved it straight away. It kept his focus and he stayed happy in the bath, long enough to play, kick his legs and even laugh at us a couple of times. This bath was the first bath Little Man has played in, the first one that was long enough to do more than just wash and it was lovely for all of us to see him happy in the water again.

I’m now hoping that bath times will get better, that Little Man will continue to like playing in the bath and will be able to enjoy bathtimes with his Sister. I’m looking forward to a time where they can play happily together in the water, where bathtimes are more fun than hard work and where I can bath the two of them together after dinner when Dave’s at work.

For now, Little Man seems to enjoy bathtime again – at least the playing part. Long may it continue!

  1. Hehehe….great photos !! Why no confidence in doing them both together, though ? I always remember being in with my 2 younger brothers all our early lives. I would’ve thought having both in the one place would make it easier for you. I’m not a mum, though, so I bet I’m overlooking something and you’re probably rolling your eyes now !!

  2. Josh hated baths as a baby so much that he used to cry until it was over fast forward a couple of years when he was about 2 and he suddenly loved them and still does.
