Beaches near Legoland Florida

One of our favourite days out when we visit Florida is Legoland Florida. Yes, We love going to the Walt Disney World Resort and Universal Orlando Resort, but no Florida trip is complete without a day or two at Legoland Florida. Here are 10 Things to do at Legoland Florida – although there are plenty more!
What is Legoland Florida?
Legoland Florida is a haven for Lego fans. There are fantastic Lego themed rides, Lego themed shows and huge displays made from Lego bricks. It’s brightly coloured and fun – an instant happy place for Lego fans of all ages.
What are the closest beaches to Legoland Florida?
Legoland is built in what used to be Cypress Gardens, a botanical garden and theme park near Winter Haven. Much of the attraction is still beautiful gardens and lakes, giving it a lovely coastal feel despite being in central Florida.
Due to the location, there are no beaches ‘near’ Legoland Florida, but Legoland have created the Legoland Beach Retreat as part of the Legoland Florida resort. It’s somewhere families can stay, enjoy the beachy feel and have easy access to the Legoland theme park entrance as well as the Legoland water park and Peppa Pig theme park right next door.
How far is the beach from Legoland Florida?
If you want to visit an actual beach, on the coast of Florida, you’ll need to drive for around ninety minutes depending on which beach you chose. Here are some options:
Beaches on the western coast of Florida
St Pete Beach
St Petes Beach is around 90 minutes from Legoland and is known for its miles of white-sand beaches, glistening emerald-green water, oceanfront resorts, and fantastic restaurants. It’s home to loads of water and outdoor activities like parasailing and sunset cruising. It’s pretty close to Tampa Bay and Busch Gardens if you’re looking to extend your trip too.
Clearwater Beach
Clearwater Beach is around a 90 minute drive from Legoland and is known for its soft, white sand and vibrant beach life – there’s jet-skiing, parasailing, and stand-up paddleboarding to be enjoyed in the calm waters of Clearwater. And you can cycle or rollerblader along the winding beachfront promenade. It’s a really lovely place to spend time.
Bradenton Beach
Slightly further away, Bradenton Beach is on Anna Maria Island on the Southwest Coast of Florida and has a relaxed pace and miles of white-sand beaches. With amazing views and independent shops and eateries, it’s a really popular place for a laid back, coastal vibe.
Siesta Key
Around two hours from Legoland, Siesta Key is further along the Southwest Coast of Florida and perfect for a relaxing island getaway. It’s situated on an 8-mile-long island, which is just a short bridge crossing from Sarasota. Home to stunning quartz-sand beach and with the opportunity to do everything from fishing to parasailing, it’s a great choice for an evening or even a day or two on the Florida coast.
Beaches on the eastern coast of Florida
Daytona Beach
Two hours away, and on the other side of Florida, Daytona Beach is a 23 mile stretch of Atlantic Ocean beach that is great for surfing, parasailing, kayaking, paddle boarding and fishing. It’s also home to the Daytona International Speedway which is well worth a visit.
Cocoa Beach
Cocoa Beach is slightly closer to Legoland and a really popular surfing and beach destination. It has miles of beautiful shoreline that offer spectacular sunrises and the chance to spot dolphins, manatees and nesting sea turtles in their natural habitat.
It’s also part of Florida’s Space Coast, just thirty minutes from Cape Canaveral and the Kennedy Space Center, making it the perfect base for a short break or weekend visit.
Vero Beach
Home to many shipwrecks and with treasure to be found, Disney’s Vero Beach is part of the Treasure Coast, 26 miles of beaches with an uncrowded shoreline and a great arts and entertainment scene, making it an ideal place for a relaxing getaway.
New Smyrna Beach
One end of the Cape Canaveral National Seashores, New Smyrna Beach has 17 miles of white sandy beaches and is apparently one of the best places to surf in Florida. It’s popular as a laid back coastal retreat and also with people looking to indulge in watersports.
As you can see, Florida has a lot of family friendly beach areas that the kids will love to play on and they are all pretty accessible from all the Florida theme parks, the Legoland Pirate Island Hotel and pretty much all the attractions you could want to visit during your stay.
