Me & Mine {August 2020}

August is always one of my favourite months. No real routine, no school, no uniforms and just a more relaxed pace of life. This August felt like a real treat after homeschooling and despite not going abroad we have still had a really lovely month.

At the start of the month we’d just got back from our week in Weymouth and have spent every weekend since then getting the house packed up for our building work. Each week furniture has disappeared from upstairs and boxes have been shipped off to storage.

As it stands at the moment, the whole family are sharing two big wardrobes in our room and we’re all sleeping on mattresses on the floor! It will be worth it in the long run.

Aside from that, the month has been full of trips to the park and days with friends. We had to cancel our trip to meet up with Colette due to the northern coronavirus restrictions which was definitely a sad point to the summer but aside from that we’ve managed to do so much.

We’ve explored a lot of local parks – Frimley Lodge Park, Woking Park and went to Virginia Water too as well as the closest parks to us which we go to regularly.

We’ve had lovely days out with our best friends and also Lauren who we’re seeing again before the children go back to school too. Seeing friends from further afield is something we always try and do in the holidays and it is always time well spent.

We went to Winkworth Arboretum, had a bit of a pants trip to Legoland and had a morning at Aldershot Military Museum which was so close to us and not something we’d ever thought to do before.

The month finished with LP’s ninth birthday. We went on a GoBoat adventure, spent her actual birthday at Bocketts Farm with our besties and had a family barbecue too. It was pretty perfect after not being able to go anywhere or see anyone properly for Little Man’s birthday back in May.

And that’s it. August done, the summer holidays are very close to being done and the children are back at school in just a couple of sleeps. The last school year really didn’t turn out how we expected so I’m hoping this one works out at least a little bit better!
