On a recent day out in London we wanted to have something nice to eat rather than just grabbing a sandwich or a McDonalds. We saw a great deal for afternoon tea at Caffe Concerto and thought it looked lovely, so booked it as a treat for the four of us, making it the children’s first afternoon tea experience where they had the adult menu and not a children’s menu.
Where is Caffe Concerto?
Caffรจ Concerto is a stylish and award-winning Italian restaurant chain with a great menu, fine wines, celebration cakes and an indulgent atmosphere. They have many locations across London and we were looking forward to our very first caffe Concerto experience at Caffe Concerto Covent Garden.
Afternoon Tea at Caffe Concerto
We booked a table at Caffe Concerto and so they were expecting us when we arrived. We loved how bright and airy the restaurant was, with comfortable furnishings and really friendly staff. We were given menus and before long our drinks order was taken – with a choice of tea, coffee or hot chocolate.

When our afternoon tea arrived, we had two three tier cake stands between the four of us and we were immediately excited to tuck in! It looked amazing!
The afternoon tea started with a selection of finger sandwiches and mini brioche rolls. The sandwiches were filled with cucumber with cream cheese and egg mayonnaise with mustard. They were all a good size, full of flavour and delicious.
The mini brioche rolls came with a mix of Scottish smoked salmon and soft cheese and coronation chicken – such a great sandwich filling! We’ve never had rolls like this with afternoon tea before but we all really enjoyed them. They made a nice difference to typical bread and looked great too.
Our next tier was full of freshly baked plain and raisins scones served with Cornish clotted cream and strawberry jam. The scones were still warm – even after we’d eaten the sandwiches – and they were light and fluffy. We all really liked them and they were definitely a highlight of the afternoon tea spread.
We finished off our afternoon tea with an assortment of mini cakes. There were mini tarts, macarons, cheesecakes and cream slices. All our favourite cakes in miniature – it was perfect!
We are used to afternoon tea having two of everything. But the cakes on this afternoon tea spread come individually, so you have to share – either taking it in turns to pick which to have or having half of each cake each. This wasn’t a problem but something to be aware of.
Our Caffe Concerto afternoon tea was the perfect treat on a rainy Saturday. We really enjoyed all of the different tiers, from sandwiches to scones and cakes. It was lovely. Plus, when our table was cleared we were offered a doggy bag, taking the left over cakes and scones home with us to enjoy later.
Caffe Concerto afternoon tea deals
We booked our afternoon tea experience through Groupon and got a fantastic deal – around half the price of the standard rate. The offers change constantly but they usually have some sort of promotion on through Groupon and you can see all the current offers here.
We’re already looking forward to our next Caffe Concerto Afternoon Tea experience – and the rest of the Caffe Concerto menu looked incredible too! You can find your nearest Caffe Concerto here.
