We love finding alternative ways to use mincemeat and creating twists on classic recipes. Traditional thumbprint cookies are one of the simplest bakes to make – especially when baking with children – so we thought we’d create a Mincemeat Thumbprint Cookies recipe for you to enjoy over the festive season at home.

These mincemeat cookies are so easy to make and the recipe can be easily doubled to make more in one go. They’re something we’ll be enjoying throughout December – and well into the new year if we have mincemeat to use up!

Mincemeat Thumbprint Cookies Recipe

These biscuits use just four ingredients – butter, sugar, flour and mincemeat. They couldn’t be easier to make and would be fantastic end of year Christmas gifts for teachers or a sweet treat to make when having guests throughout the holiday season. They’re a great alternative to mince pies and something that takes just minutes to cook. These Christmas cookies are such a favourite of ours.

You can make this recipe simply with things you already have in your kitchen but here are the things we use in case there’s something you don’t already have:

Mincemeat Thumbprint Cookies Recipe

So here’s our Mincemeat Thumbprint Cookies recipe:

This makes approx 24 cookies

Ingredients:

  • 200g butter or margarine
  • 200g caster sugar
  • 300g plain flour
  • 200g mincemeat
Mincemeat Thumbprint Cookies Recipe

Recipe:

  • Preheat the oven to 180C/350F/Gas 4
  • Cream the butter and caster sugar in a bowl.
  • Add the flour and mix well.
  • Scoop the dough into balls and place evenly spaced on a baking sheet. Press down the centre of each one with your thumb.
  • Fill the dents with mincemeat and baking in the centre of the oven for 15 minutes until starting to brown.
  • Leave to cool completely before enjoying.
