Siblings {May 2021}

I was just looking back through photos from the last month and I was surprised at how much we’ve done. I think of the last month as being rainy, forcing us to spend a lot of time indoors but, in reality, the first couple of weeks were full of lovely weather and even when it rained we had sunny spells in between.

So the last month has been lovely. We’ve had a few National Trust days out – to Claremont Landscape Gardens, The Vyne and Hatchlands Park where LP and Little Man loved adventuring together and discovering play areas – when they were open!

But we had trips to other play areas too – the new California Country Park playground and a day in Berkhamsted which was so lovely despite the rain. We met up with Mel and her children and had a lovely day exploring somewhere new to us.

We also went to the Easter Trail at Stonor Park – such an amazing place that we hadn’t heard of before! One thing the children have loved over the last year is visiting new places. We’ve discovered so many places close to us and now, within an hour or so drive, and it’s so nice to really appreciate things like simple days out again.

But we have also had plenty of time at home. LP and Little Man have rediscovered the joys of painting, drawing and generally just creating together. They also both love down time – reading books side by side, watching a movie together or playing Minecraft on the Switch.

One big thing this month was Little Man’s 8th birthday. It was low key – like last year – but full of friends and family, seen separately, in the garden. We hired a hot tub which LP and Little Man absolutely loved and they had such a nice weekend, celebrating our most favourite little boy.

Looking back through these photos I realise what a month it has been. Such a lovely one, on the cusp of the summer and showing us what the future holds. Days out, time together and better weather – hopefully.

But, one thing has been consistent over the last month – and year – and that’s LP and Little Man’s love for one another. They’re so close, almost twins, and they love each other completely. Long may it continue.
