The Philips PowerPro Duo 2-in-1 is a cordless vacuum cleaner that, as the name suggests, has two main household functions. It can be used in an upright position with powerful brushes for pet hair on carpets. Or it can be used as a compact handheld vacuum device for those awkward areas that need also cleaning like stairs or the car.

What were our first impressions of the Philips Vacuum Cleaner?

Once it has charged up, the stick vacuum cleaner is very easy to use as it is so lightweight. It responds to the lightest of touches, turning easily with minimal effort. The suction on the vacuum is also very good with a normal or a ‘turbo’ mode.

We have found that the normal mode is good enough for the hard flooring around the house. The ‘turbo’ mode is great for the rugs and carpets. This uses more of the battery charge so your cleaning time is less, but from the contents of the dirt chamber, it is well worth it! Philips PowerPro Duo 2-in-1 Cordless Vacuum Cleaner has plenty of charge for everyday use at around 40 minutes of use.

Are there any negatives of these Vacuum Cleaners?

One downside we have found is that the dirt chamber is quite small compared to similar products at 0.6 litres. But it is big enough for a whizz up the stairs and downstairs areas once a day.

However we did find that a large build up of dust occurs between the filter and the chamber. This makes it difficult to empty without making a mess. We also found that the home for the attachable crevice tool was a bit dodgy. It’s just a small clip into the back of the upright stick.

This keeps falling off with the smallest knock. We’ve taken to leaving it off and it lives with the charger. This way we know where it is and we can clip it in when it is charging for safe keeping.

How does the Philips PowerPro Duo handheld mode work?

When in handheld mode, the vacuum is just as powerful as when in upright. It too has a ‘turbo’ function. We have  found that not only is it perfect for the stairs with the crevice tool, it also works very well in the car without having to run a lead from the house!

It is also small enough to really get into all of the nooks and crannies of a typical car whilst still having a powerful vacuum in your hand. However, without the handheld section in the stick, the stick does become very off balance and is tricky to leave standing up on it’s own without it falling over. This was easily overcome by propping it against a wall or by just laying it on the floor!

  1. I don’t know why I don’t have a small handheld vaccum, they’re so helpful! Would save me lugging out our hoover as often…. think I might buy one soon. Great review

  2. I need one of these for my bathroom – my old handheld vacuum just doesn’t cut it when it comes to keeping the “cat litter menace” at bay.
