We love making cupcakes and like experimenting with different flavours to add variety to our bakes. Our latest creation is Maple Syrup Cupcakes – a super easy bake that is perfect for any occasion.
How do you make Maple Syrup Cupcakes?
For these maple syrup cupcakes we use typical cake ingredients – self raising flour, buttor or margarine, eggs, golden caster sugar and maple syrup. However, you can use plain flour or all purpose flour with a little baking powder or baking soda if you want to. We use self raising flour for ease.
And although we use golden caster sugar you can use tradiitonal caster sugar or light brown sugar if you wanted. Both give great results.
We tend to have these cupcakes plain, without any topping or finishing off. They are moist and delicious and the children love them for breakfast or an after school snack.
However, if you wanted to make them for a special occasion or make them a little bit fancy you could always top them with a maple cream cheese frosting.
Maple bacon cupcakes
A lot of people like the combination of maple and bacon so bacon maple syrup cupcakes make sense to a lot of people! If you frost the cupcakes you could then add well cooked chopped bacon to the top or maple candied bacon for something a little bit more fancy.
But, we love the maple cupcakes just as they are. Sweet, simple and full of that wonderful maple flavour. Whether you top them with maple buttercream or have them plain, you will definitely enjoy them!
