Our latest loaf cake recipe is one the whole family love. This Golden Syrup Loaf Cake is moist and delicious with that distinct golden syrup flavour. It’s a homely, traditional bake that can be made for any occasion.
What do you need to make this golden syrup cake?
For this golden syrup cake we use typical cake ingredients – butter, sugar, flour and an egg as well as golden syrup and milk to make it fluffy and moist. We use either unsalted butter or margarine – whatever we have at home at the time.
We also use light brown sugar but golden caster sugar or standard white caster sugar work well too. We tend to use self raising flour as we always have it at home but you could also use plain flour and a little baking powder or baking soda if you want to.
For this golden syrup cake recipe we use a supermarket own brand golden syrup but you could use Lyle’s Golden Syrup for that extra traditional bake. We also use maple syrup sometimes instead of golden syrup for a lovely variation.
How do you serve an easy golden syrup cake?
This easy bake is a really versatile recipe that you can enjoy for literally any occasion. It’s great to have with a cup of tea in the afternoon or to slice for a bake sale but we also really enjoy it for dessert. This really wholesome bake works well with custard or warmed up and served with a dollop of ice cream on top for a really lovely pudding.
