Ingredients
200gself raising flour
120gunsalted butterat room temperature
120gcaster sugar
1egg
100ggolden syrup
100mlmilk
To finish
golden syrupA little extra to drizzle
Instructions
Preheat oven at 180C/350F/Gas 4
Line or grease a loaf tin
Put all the ingredients in a large bowl and mix until well combined.
Pour the golden syrup mixture into the prepared baking tin and bake in the centre of the oven for an hour until nicely risen and golden brown on top and a skewer inserted comes out clean.
Remove from the oven and stick a skewer repeatedly into the cake at random intervals.
Drizzle golden syrup over the top and leave to cool completely in the baking tin.
Slice and enjoy!
