As a family we love to start the day with a balanced breakfast – something filling, varied but tasty too and at this time of year there’s nothing better than the taste of chocolate orange. One of our favourite breakfasts at the moment is Chocolate Orange Granola Pots that have the wonderful flavour thanks to Nutella.
For our home made crunchy granola yogurt pots we use our supermarkets’ own brand reduced sugar granola. It’s a nutty variety with a little raisin sweetness and so much goodness from the whole grains too. It’s the perfect choice when healthy eating and great to add to meal plans.
Here’s our Chocolate Orange Granola Pot recipe, which makes four portions but is super easy to divide the mixture to make one or two at a time – and you can add more orange to suit your taste too.
Here’s our Chocolate Orange Granola Pots recipe:
Ingredients
- 60g Nutella (one heaped teaspoon per person)
- 300g 0% fat Greek yogurt
- 1 large orange, peeled, segmented and cut into chunks
- 1 tsp orange zest
- 160g reduced sugar granola
Method
- Mix the yogurt and orange zest in a bowl.
- Divide half the granola between glasses and top with a layer of orange chunks
- Cover with half the yogurt mixture
- Repeat the granola, orange and yogurt layers before topping with a heaped teaspoon of Nutella and a couple of orange slices.
- Best served immediately
The recipe uses just four heaped teaspoons of Nutella, one heaped teaspoon per person. One 15g portion of Nutella is a delicious way to spread a little happiness at breakfast but it can be enjoyed in so many ways. Spread on toast, on pancakes, stirred into porridge or to top off your very own Chocolate Orange Granola Pots.
Make sure, however you enjoy it, you have a Merry Little Breakfast this Christmas too.
