In February half term we had a break in Cornwall, staying at the Retallack Resort and Spa near Bodmin. It’s a great, central location to explore all that Cornwall has to offer and we couldn’t wait to explore.

What is Retallack Resort?

Retallack Resort is an Away Resorts holiday site in North Cornwall. Located in the picturesque Cornish countryside, Retallack is open all year round unlike many other holiday parks.

The resort is full of barns and lodges to stay in and has a pool and spa as well as an aqua park and activities on site including Cornwall’s only FlowRider. When we visited in February FlowRider, aqua park and activities weren’t available but the pool was open for us during the day.

Retallack Resort Accomodation

At Retallack Resort there isn’t a caravan in sight. Instead you’ll find beautiful lodges and barns that fit so well into the Cornish countryside.

We had a two bedroom lodge and it far exceeded our expectations. With parking outside, on a quiet road of nicely spaced lodges, we loved our holiday home from the moment we saw it.

Downstairs there was a good size lounge, huge kitchen with a dining table plus a downstairs toilet – and utility room. Having a washing machine and drying facilities feels like such a luxury on holiday and it’s something we weren’t expecting. A great bonus.

Upstairs there was a master bedroom, complete with balcony and seating area, a twin bedroom and a great size family bathroom with both a bath and separate shower. There were also complimentary toiletries and plenty of towels.

Downstairs there was also decking to the front and back of the lodge with seating. I imagine this would be wonderful in the warmer months.

The kitchen came with a welcome pack with things like washing up liquid, tea towels and bin bags to get you started and it was fully equipped with everything we needed – and had a dishwasher too.

The Retallack Resort Swimming Pool

The children loved going swimming each day of our holiday. The indoor swimming pool was a great temperature and there’s also a sauna and steam room too.

The Retallack Resort also has the ESYA spa if you feel like adding a treatment or two into your holiday plans. There’s also the health club if you want to exercise during your stay.

Eating at Retallack Resort

During our break we were fully self catered, happily cooking in our lodge in the evenings. But the Retallack resort does have fantastic eateries if you feel like eating out. There’s the Lookout Bar and Eatery as well as the Beach Cafe which is open seasonally. The resort has a handy shop to pick up any little bits and pieces too.

We had such a lovely break at Retallack Resort and it was a fantastic base for exploring Cornwall. We went to Cardinham Woods, the Cornish Seal Sanctuary, Lands End and the Eden Project during our trip and we would definitely spend more time on site at the resort if we visited during the warmer months.

You can find out more about Retallack Resort over on the Away Resorts website and we booked through Hotels.com. For reference the address is: Winnard’s Perch, Saint Columb, Cornwall TR9 6DE
