What the Redhead said is Four!
Do you ever sit back and wonder where the time has gone? Well, a few days ago I realised that this website would be turning four today and I couldn’t quite believe it.
Four years ago I had already been blogging for a couple of years – on a free WordPress site before moving to Redhead Babyled. But, when Little Man was eighteen months old it felt like we’d outgrown the baby phase and would need a new home for the blog. What the Redhead said was born and I haven’t looked back.
This blog is now my business and it has been my sole employment for over two years now. When I first made that leap of faith and gave up my day job I was worried that the blogging income may not be consistent enough but, over two years later, and it’s going really well – although I don’t think I will ever stop missing the feeling of having a guaranteed income every month that a traditional job brings.
The last year has seen us go on so many review days out and hotel breaks around the country, it’s seen us attend events and What the Redhead said was shortlisted for a Vuelio award for the first time. It’s been a big year for me and the blog and one that we have really loved.
Through the blog I was able to get my teeth straightened in the last year – something that has given me so much more confidence. I also documented learning to swim and our holiday of a lifetime to Florida although neither of those were collaborative they were things that I would never have done without the blog – we would never have had the money to go to Florida and I wouldn’t have had the umph to learn to swim.
This blog has been incredible for me. It has given me an outlet when I have needed one – writing about being bullied, my family issues and my online stalker – it has let me vent about kiss a ginger day, why the future isn’t just female and so many other things. This blog has given me a way to work whilst staying at home with the children and it has given me more friends and wider social circles than I ever knew possible.
What the Redhead said has given me confidence. it’s given me faith in myself and it has given me the desire to learn new skills and better myself. It has enabled me to share so many experiences with the children from holidays and weekends away to crafting or baking after school when I would have previously been at work.
This blog is just a little space online but it is also so much more than that and I am so, so thankful that I started it. Four years feels like a lifetime and yet again it feels like no time at all.
Happy Birthday What the Redhead said – thanks for the memories, now let’s go and make some more. Here’s to the next year and all that it may bring.
