High Tea in The Clouds – The Spinnaker Tower Afternoon Tea Experience

Just before Mother’s Day I was invited, along with a friend, for afternoon tea at the Spinnaker Tower. We’ve visited the Spinnaker Tower on a few occasions but have never had afternoon tea there. I couldn’t wait for afternoon tea somewhere new.

High Tea in The Clouds

The Spinnaker Tower afternoon tea experience is billed as High Tea in The Clouds, with The Clouds being the Spinnaker Tower cafe on the second floor of the tower.

When we arrived at the tower, reception were expecting us and showed us straight up in the lift to The Clouds. The staff manning the lift explained that there was a floor below and above The Clouds that we could explore after our high tea experience as High Tea in The Clouds includes full access to the Spinnaker Tower.

The Spinnaker Tower Afternoon Tea

We were seated in the window of The Clouds, giving fantastic views of the coast. At 105 metres above the ground, we could see for miles and the cafe was so bright and sunny, even when we visited on a bit of a grey day.

The afternoon tea included a selection of sandwiches, an assortment of sweet treats and fruit scones with clotted cream and jam plus our choice of teas or coffee.

The Spinnaker Tower have vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options available that you just specify at the time of booking. This meant that all our afternoon tea came out on one beautiful three tier cake stand aside from my friend’s vegetarian sandwiches which were served separately.

The sandwiches were delicious, with a variety of fillings. There was ham and mustard, cheese, cream cheese and cucumber and egg mayonnaise.

Next, we had the scones which were a great size and lovely and light with plenty of fruit in them. We were surprised that there was only one scone each as usually there are two on an afternoon tea offering, but the scone was pretty big and having just one left us room to enjoy the rest of the afternoon tea.

The final sweet treat tier was full of so many tasty treats. There were chocolate cakes and mini victoria sponges, brownies and tarts, all finished off with fresh fruit, macarons and Lindt balls. It couldn’t have been nicer.

We really enjoyed our afternoon tea at the Spinnaker Tower and as we visited for Mother’s Day, the afternoon tea came with a glass of prosecco each too. It’s such a great way to celebrate an occasion.

Exploring the Spinnaker Tower

After our afternoon tea we ventured up to the top floor of the Spinnaker Tower. It’s open air, with artificial grass on the floor, places to sit and telescopes to admire the view.

This floor would be great for a drinks reception, having a cocktail whilst admiring the incredible views from the highest point around. It’s a fantastic space.

Then we went back to the first floor where we got to admire even more views whilst learning more about the tower and the points of interest in the distance.

The Sky Walk

This floor is also home to the Sky Walk – the Spinnaker Tower glass floor. You can walk across the glass floor, see all the way to the ground below and get a whole new experience compared to the views along the coast.

We loved exploring the Spinnaker Tower and enjoyed High Tea in the Clouds. It was only about £40 per person which was fantastic value considering it included afternoon tea, a glass of prosecco and entrance to the Spinnaker Tower – which is usually £15.
