The Big Sheep – Bideford, Devon

Disclosure: We were invited on this day out for the purpose of this post however all opinions are my own.

We finished our half term break in Devon with a visit to The Big Sheep, an all weather family attraction near Bideford in North Devon. It’s somewhere we had never been before and couldn’t wait to see what it had on offer.

We started our day outside where the children went on a Piggy Pull-a-Long ride, pulled by a tractor, that took them on a tour of the outside space. They loved this and is was a great way to kick off our trip.

A lot of the rest of the outdoor space was closed due to the weather and time of year but the children were able to go on a Teddy Teacup ride and then used the go karts to go round a very wet track.

In the summer there’s a so much more to do outside with jumping pillows, a splash zone, trampolines and many more rides too. It’s somewhere you can easily spend all day.

The Big Sheep has a huge Ewetopia indoor soft play area with a cafe that is fantastic to spend time in. The children happily spent an hour in there whilst I had a nice cup of tea which broke up our day nicely.

We then ventured indoors to the nursery barn and pets corner. It’s such a great indoor space with pens of pigs, goats and sheep that the children happily made friends with. They were able to stroke so many of them – washing their hands afterwards.

From here we picked up the Big Sheep train which took us on a really lovely ride around the park. It was a great way to relax and see what else the Big Sheep had to offer.

There are so many live shows every day at the Big Sheep and we were lucky enough to see the Duck Trials which was one of the funniest things I have ever seen. There are also milking shows, a sheep race and so much more.

We had a packed lunch and found so many picnic tables to eat at but there’s also a restaurant and the cafe on site too. We saw so many families with their own lunches like us but many bought food at the restaurant as well – it was all home cooked and looked delicious.

We finished the day on two more outdoor rides – The Rampage Roller Coaster which was so fast and the children loved followed by The Twister, a swinging chair ride that the children stayed on for more than a couple of turns!

I really felt like we only scratched the surface of The Big Sheep and would love to visit again in the summer when we could really make more of the time we had there. There are Battlefield Live combat games, pony rides, swan pedalos, the Big Sheep brewery, a gin distillery and so much more.

We had such a great family day out at the Big Sheep. The children have been talking about it almost daily and we can’t wait to go back again in the future for another brilliant day out.
