Siblings {July 2022}

And just like that another month has passed. This is the last Siblings post of this academic year, the last of LP and Little Man being at primary school together and the last before the summer holidays and then LP starting secondary school. What an end of an era.

This month has been lovely, with so much down time and time spent together as well days out and adventures. LP and Little Man are at an age now where they often grate on each other, annoy each other and wind each other up without even trying. I’m actually pretty impressed that we’ve got to LP being nearly 11 before we’ve reached this point.

That said, LP and Little Man still love each other completely. They are best friends and love watching TV together, laughing at the same shows and being creative together – writing stories between them, drawing or painting.

They’d always much rather do things together. Whether that’s go on a day out and explore together, sit together on a ride or simply take turns doing the slip and slide in the garden together. I’m hanging on to this, and reminding them of this regularly. Life is better, together.

LP and Little Man’s dynamic changes regularly as they’re getting older. One minute LP will be the grown up big sister, annoyed at her little brother. The next Little Man will be teaching her things on Roblox or telling her the latest fact he’s learnt. They are still very twin-like, taking it in turns to be the grown up one and also taking it in turns to throw their toys out the pram and have a moment.

These two make me so happy. On their best days, on their grouchy days and on the days where they want nothing more than to stay in bed. Whatever the day brings, I love for this pair, their relationship and their whole, huge future ahead of them. I hope they always stay friends – even ones that annoy each other constantly.
