Siblings {August 2015}

This month my nearly four year old and my two year old have turned into equals. Yep, there’s nearly two years between them and Little Man can’t say half as many words as his sister but they’re basically the same size and anyone watching would think they were friends rather than siblings. They just go together perfectly.

Little Man and LP are the best of friends. He copies her, follows her and does everything he can to help her. From the moment he wakes up until the moment he goes to bed LP is the person he wants to be with, to play with and to help. He finds things for her, shows her things and does everything he can to make her happy. He idolises her.

LP is pretty much the same although being bigger she does find Little Man annoying at times and she’ll do things that upset him – not because she wants to upset him but because she doesn’t realise yet that taking the toy he’s playing with or using his scooter without asking might upset him. They always make up again afterwards and carry on like nothing happened.

We are now halfway through the summer holidays and only a couple of weeks away from LP starting school. LP and Little Man are having the best summer – full of adventures, play dates and fun. We have had picnics and TV dinners, movies in bed, milkshakes and cinema trips. We are squeezing in as much as we can, whilst we can as I know that so much will change come September. Little Man will lose his sidekick during the day and he’ll have to get his dose of LP when she gets home from school and at weekends.

For now I’m focusing on cramming more fun into the next two weeks. Seeing LP and Little Man together now is just the best thing. They are friends, companions, playmates. They are the siblings I imagined when we thought of having another baby. They are everything I imagined and so much more – they really are just the best.

  1. This sounds so so much like my two; it makes you so proud to see the friend they have in each other, doesn’t it? And I too am looking towards September and worrying about my little missy losing her sidekick for so much of the week. At least we are giving them summers full of memories to treasure. x

  2. Such a lovely post Donna, I love that they are such firm friends as well as brother and sister. It looks like you’ve had lots of fun with them this month and I know what you mean about trying to cram so much in, I feel like this too with the start of school looming! What a massive change when she goes off to school, I know the twins have each other but I feel they will really miss Lucas, especially after the summer they’ve had together! xx #siblings

  3. Oh Donna, this is just such a lovely post and they’re really beautiful pictures. I really enjoy reading all of your sibling posts, as I love the way you describe the bond your two have. I really hope that Ethan and Logan will have such a special bond like yours do, when they’re older. xx
