Our Pre-Loft Conversion Home

I started writing about our loft conversion progress and realised I hadn’t shared what our house was like before the work started – and it’s always good to have a true before and after.

We live in a very typical Victorian three bed semi although we extended the downstairs four years ago. Upstairs we have three bedrooms – one big one at the front, another in the middle and one then the bathroom and the last bedroom in a historic extension at the rear of the house.

For the loft conversion, the new stairs are able to go straight up above our existing stairs so we don’t lose any space on the first floor to accommodate the new stairs.

We also have to have the ceilings lowered in the front two bedrooms and our bathroom. It’s only LP’s bedroom that doesn’t need any work doing – having one untouched room is a relief to be honest!

When the loft is completed we will have a new master bedroom above our front two bedrooms, a walk in wardrobe above the bathroom and a new shower room above LP’s room at the back.

So there you have it – our home before the loft conversion. I’ll share an update on where we are with the work and then a big reveal at the end. Wish us luck!
