What do you need to make Nutella Pinwheels?

For these Nutella pinwheels you just need puff pastry sheets and Nutella, although you can use any chocolate hazelnut spread or a plain chocolate spread if you need to avoid nuts. We then decorate with milk and a sprinkle of nuts.

We always buy ready rolled puff pastry sheets for these puff pastry swirls to make it super simple but you can always make your own pastry if you want to or defrost frozen puff pastry sheets to use instead. The Nutella swirls will turn out perfectly either way.

Nutella Puff Pastry Pinwheels

We cook these Nutella pinwheels in the oven but you could always try using an air fryer if that’s your prefered method of cooking – I’m sure they’d work just as well! We also have to bake them in batches. As they spread during cooking, you have to lay them out on the baking sheet with gaps in between.

Can you vary this chocolate pinwheel recipe?

Although this recipe is very much a nutty chocolate pinwheels recipe, you could add banana to make banana chocolate pinwheels for a bit of variety. There really is nothing quite like baked Nutella pastry swirls. Everyone loves them!

These easy Nutella puff pastry rolls are great for a weekend breakfast or as part of a picnic or buffet spread. Plus, they’re perfect as a sweet treat in the afternoon. Really, they’re great at any time of the day and for any reason, or no reason, at all.

If you’re looking for other recipes to try instead of chocolate puff pastry pinwheels, why not make Nutella Puff Pastry Croissants or a Nutella Puff Pastry Star? We also have a cheese and tomato pinwheel recipe but carrying on the Nutella theme, you could try our Nutella fudge – it’s delicious! You can see all our recipes to date here.
