This year I booked tickets to spend Mother’s Day at Miller’s Ark Animals, a local farm which is open on various dates through the year for open days and special events. Our visit coincided with lambing season and we were so excited to visit.

What is Miller’s Ark?
Miller’s Ark started off as a mobile farm, and still attend many events as a mobile farm around the local community. But, they also have open days throughout the year where you can visit Miller’s Ark to get up close to the animals too.

Where is Miller’s Ark?
Miller’s Ark is situated between the A30 and M3 in Hook, Hampshire. It was less than a twenty minute drive from us in Camberley and has plenty of free parking on site.

The Miller’s Ark open days
The Miller’s Ark open days run on 90 minute sessions which are bookable in advance – and often sell out quickly! We thought 90 minutes might not be very long but it ended up being plenty of time to meet all the animals and even get cuddles from a few!

I went to Miller’s Ark with the children who are 12 and 14 and I often wonder how interested they’ll be on days out now they are getting older. But, Miller’s Ark was the perfect day out for them – they loved it!
When we arrived the first pens with sheep and lambs in were quite busy so we decided to explore the rest of the farm first. We immediately came across so many different types of chickens, ducks and a whole pen of donkeys.

The donkeys had some babies with them, with jackets on to keep them warm, and the kids loved them instantly. There really isn’t much cuter than a baby donkey!

We then spent some time in a goat pen, full of baby goats! We could easily have stayed here for the whole 90 minutes. Goats came up to us, climbed on us, chewed our laces and did all they could to get our attention and a cuddle or two!

LP and Little Man loved the goats sitting on their laps – and one lay on Little Man’s lap for quite a while, content to give him cuddles whilst we all listened to it chewing! The goats were adorable, full of energy and so friendly. It was great to spend time with them.

After the goats we spent time wandering around the rest of the farm animals. There were a few pens of pigs, more goats and sheep in the fields, even more donkeys and a gorgeous pony that LP loved chatting to.

The farm animals all had staff with them to open and close pens for us to save any escapees and they were happy to answer any questions we had. Everyone was so friendly and the whole farm had a really lovely buzz to it.

It was then time to get up close to the sheep, and we spent time with them across two different pens during the rest of our open day session. There were so many sheep of different sizes and they were all so friendly – some even getting on the selfie action!

We loved sitting with the sheep, stroking them and chatting to them but I think the goats were the stars of the show for us and our definite favourites.

Our Miller’s Ark session came to an end after one last look at the goats and we left with the sun shining and hearts full. It was such a lovely way to spend a morning and we cannot wait to visit again in the future – if only for more goat cuddles!
