Last weekend we went to Hampton Court Palace for the day – and it just happened to be the first day of their Lindt Gold Bunny Hunt too! This was a lovely surprise and really added to our day out.

We’ve been to Hampton Court Palace many times – with the kids over the years and also before we had the children. It’s always a great day out but we haven’t been at Easter before so it was lovely to experience the Lindt Gold Bunny Hunt for the first time.

Where is Hampton Court Palace?
Hampton Court Palace is in East Molesey in Surrey and sits happily on the banks of the River Thames. It’s in the London Borough of Richmond, in South West London, and is well located to get to from Kingston, Richmond, London or further afield. It’s well worth travelling too if you’re not local!

Getting to Hampton Court Palace
Hampton Court Palace has car parking on site along with an overflow car park just a short walk away. It’s also just a nice stroll across Hampton Court Bridge from Hampton Court train station. We actually parked in the train station car park as it worked out much cheaper than parking on site.

The Lindt Gold Bunny Hunt at Hampton Court Palace
The Lindt Gold Bunny Hunt at Hampton Court Palace is free – it’s included with the price of the palace admission – or, if you’re members like us, it’s included with membership. There’s no extra cost to take part in the Easter trail – and yet you still get a sweet treat at the end!

The Easter Lindt Gold Bunny Hunt isn’t like other trails where you have to collect letters, answer questions and tick things off. It’s a trail that you enjoy at your own pace, finding out about remarkable individuals who left their mark on Henry VIII’s home along the way.

The Easter trail takes you all through the Palace’s iconic gardens, where you spot gold bunnies amongst the greenery, under the trees – and even in a window! Each of the gold bunny statues has a red ribbon with a name on and a placard telling you more about that person, who they were and what they did.

We loved spotting the adorable Lindt gold bunnies – with beautiful red ribbons adorning them! – and it helped us to make sure we’d explored the whole of Hampton Court Palace gardens and grounds. We saw so much more than if we’d just been wandering with no real purpose and it helped to keep the kids engaged too!

At the end of the trail we were given a special sticker and a miniature 10g Lindt Bunny chocolate – but there are non-chocolate alternatives available on request. We were asked if there were any allergies before the chocolates were given out too.

Exploring Hampton Court Palace
As well as doing the Lindt Gold Bunny Hunt around the gardens we also had time to explore Hampton Court Palace – something which we always love doing. No matter how many times we visit, being inside Hampton Court Palace is full of real wow moments.

We started with the Master Carpenters Court where we got to see inside Henry VIII’s kitchens before moving on to Henry VIII’s apartments. Due to how the palace is laid out there’s a natural flow of what to see next and it was great to see where Henry VIII and his wives would have lived.

We saw the Chapel Royal, along with the Royal Pew and Henry VIII’s crown, and walked through the Georgian Story, teaching us more about King George and letting us explore his apartments.

One of the last places we visited was The Tudor World, a really hands on exhibit teaching us more about what life was like in Tudor times – from what they wore to the smells of life back then and even what facial hair was life!

We broke up the day with a stop at the Magic Garden play area – somewhere that our children are almost too big for but still really enjoy. It’s a fantastic space, with a cafe and toilets, where parents can sit and relax whilst children play together in a really fun but safe environment.
We also went in the Hampton Court Maze which isn’t the biggest maze but is still really fun to explore and get lost in for a little while.

Our day at Hampton Court Palace
There is so much to see and do at Hampton Court Palace and I’m sure there were parts that we missed – and will happily go back again to see in the future! The Lindt Bunny Hunt Hampton Court Palace event really added to our day out, it’s just one of many special events that Hampton Court put on throughout the year, and I think the sun shining was the icing on the cake. There really is nothing quite like Hampton Court Palace in the sunshine!

The Lindt Gold Bunny Hunt is running until 12th April 2026 and you can find out more about the Easter trail, and about visiting Hampton Court Palace, over on their website and you can see a Hampton Court Palace map here. For reference, the palace address is: Hampton Ct Way, Molesey, East Molesey KT8 9AU
