It’s that time of the month where I share all the things we’ve been enjoying and appreciating over the last few weeks. It’s really nice to take a moment to focus on the positives, especially when life, and the wider world, seem quite heavy. I like taking this time to think about all the nice things that have happened, and the little moments of joy that the month has brought with it.
So here’s everything we’ve liked and loved in March.
Looking for sea glass
I’ve written before about how LP loves looking for sea glass and so, at the start of the month, we took ourselves off to the Hampshire coast to see if we could find any sea glass whilst blowing the cobwebs away.

We went to Calshot Beach and walked along the spit to the watersports centre, where we grabbed hot drinks for the walk back to the car. It was a really nice walk and LP ended up with a nice little stash of sea glass from it. It also wasn’t that busy which was nice.

Book clubs
I’ve been going to a book club now for a good couple of years and love having something different to read as well as the social side of it. But this month I was invited to a new book club at a local cafe and it was lovely to have a new book club experience and something extra to add to the calendar too! It was a really nice evening and I can’t wait for the next one.

Miller’s Ark
For Mother’s Day this year I booked for me and the kids to go to Miller’s Ark Animals for one of their open days. It’s only about twenty minutes from us and we got to spend an hour and a half getting to know farm animals and stroking and hugging lambs and baby goats. It was lovely.

Better sleep
This month I was sent QuietOn 4 to feature – the world smallest active noise-cancelling earbuds that have been specially designed for sleep. The earbuds help you to reclaim deep, uninterrupted rest by reducing noises like snoring, traffic or even birds in the early morning! They aren’t linked to Bluetooth or an app, and you don’t even need your phone with you. They are a simple, standalone product that ensures you get a better nights sleep.

Great for light sleepers, travellers, shift workers or anyone trying to improve their sleep quality, the earbuds feature an ultra-compact design so you’ll be comfortable however you sleep, and they come in a really small but sturdy case that would easily fit in a pocket or bag for travel. I know I’ll be appreciating better sleep thanks to QuietOn 4. Find out more here.

Mock GCSEs
LP has been doing her first mock GCSEs this month and although not usually something you like or love, it’s been a really positive experience for her. It’s given her more confidence, helping her to see clearly which subjects need more work and which come more easily to her as well as letting her experience proper exam conditions for the first time. She did her best and I’m really proud of her.
Hampton Court Palace
We had a really lovely day at Hampton Court Palace to break up LP’s mock GCSEs and it happened to be the start of their Lindt Golden Bunny trail whilst we were there. We all really enjoyed wandering around the palace, learning more about the Tudors and following the Easter trail – especially as there was chocolate at the end! You can read more about our day at Hampton Court here.

Time in the garden
I have spent a lot of time in the garden this month – and what a joy it has been! Spring has finally sprung and it feels like the garden is alive again after what felt like such a long winter.

Last year I spent time overhauling the garden, trying to create a more grown up garden now that the kids are bigger. We planted our border with all manner of plants and it’s lovely to see that most of them survived the winter – and are already in full bloom.

I’ve also been planting seeds and transferring seedlings, weeding and adding little touches simply for the joy they bring – like my hot air balloon solar lights. Instant joy!

New books
I always love to share a couple of books I’ve enjoyed over the course of the month and I’ve read quite a lot recently. One of my favourites was Dear Mrs Bird, which started off as a lighthearted and fun book about life as a wannabe reporter during WW2 and ended up being really heart wrenching! It was far from the simple, easy read I expected but it was so nice to read a completely different perspective of life in London during the war.

And another war themed book this month, based on a true story, is The Wartime Book Club. This was my book club choice and I had no idea how long it was when I chose it – and it could easily have been a chunk shorter! But, that aside, I really enjoyed it. It was all about life in Jersey during WW2 and the occupation. It focused on the local library and how books kept people’s spirits up during the war, whilst also introducing us to a whole host of characters. I really enjoyed it.

And that’s about it for March. Another month that has gone by so quickly and we are already starting the Easter holidays – and half way through the school year, just one term left! I am definitely happy that spring has finally sprung and I can tell that I’ll have lots more moments of joy to share in the coming months. I hope that, whatever you’ve been up to, that March has been a good one.
