Chocolate Peanut Butter Twists Recipe

Pastry twists are some of our favourite things to bake at home. The kids love to help and they are quick and easy to make. Plus, you can make them in so many different flavours. Our latest bake are these Chocolate Peanut Butter Twists and I thought I’d share them with you.

How do you make this easy peanut butter chocolate twists recipe?

These chocolate peanut butter puff pastry twists could not be easier to make. You just need a sheet of ready made puff pastry, peanut butter spread and chocolate spread. Plus, a beaten egg to finish the pastries off with an egg wash before baking.

If you don’t want to use an egg you can use milk instead. And, although we use whatever chocolate spread we have in the kitchen cupboards, you can use Nutella for Nutella peanut butter puff pastry twists if Nutella is your thing.

Can you vary these chocolate and peanut butter twists?

Although we have these peanut butter chooclate twists plain and straight from the oven, you can also add a sprinkle of sugar for a little extra sweetness or add chopped nuts to the outside of the pastries.

Also, although we use peanut butter for these puff pastry chocolate twists, you could use any nut butter that you wanted or maybe even Lotus Biscoff spread for a different twist on the flavours. 

These chocolate and peanut butter pastry twists are best eaten on the day their made – and are delicious straight from the oven. But, the chocolate puff pastry twists keep for a few days in an airtight container and are great for lunchboxes, picnics or pretty much any occasion. The kids love them for breakfast!

Chocolate Peanut Butter Twists Recipe

So here’s our easy Chocolate Peanut Butter Twists recipe – happy baking!

Ingredients

  • a sheet of ready made puff pastry
  • 100g chocolate spread
  • 100g peanut butter
  • an egg, beaten

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 200C/400F/Gas 7 and line a baking sheet with greaseproof paper
  • Make sure the pastry is at room temperature and unroll onto a clean work surface
  • Cut the pastry in half length ways
  • Spread the chocolate spread over one half of the pastry
  • Spread the peanut butter over the other half of the pastry
  • Sandwich the pastry halves together so the chocolate spread and peanut butter are facing each other and press down firmly
  • Cut the pastry sandwich you’ve created into twelve equal strips
  • Twist each pastry strip and place on the prepared baking sheet
  • Brush with the beaten egg
  • Put the baking tray in the oven and bake for 15-18 minutes or until golden brown
