A Week at School {The Ordinary Moments}

Welcome back to another week of the Ordinary Moments. If you haven’t joined in before this is a weekly linky that launches every Sunday morning and is open until midnight on the following Saturday. It’s a linky that celebrates any ordinary moments in your life – or the not so ordinary some weeks too. Basically – anything goes. I’ll be sharing and commenting on the posts that are linked up during the week and there’s a badge at the bottom of the post if you’d like to add it to yours too.

After about three months away from school, LP went back last week. It was just for the week and it was so different to her usual experience of school but it was definitely a good thing for her.

LP was in a class bubble of eleven children with a teacher. They were a mix of children from across her year and she had one of the other Year 4 teachers. Before going in on Monday she was nervous she wouldn’t be with her friends or her teacher but she ended up really enjoying it.

From what LP has said, it wasn’t school as we know it. Instead they did work, they did fun things and they spent time outside where weather permitted. It was like a relaxed version of school that LP really liked.

They had lunch in their classrooms and stayed away from the other class bubbles. They had to wear fresh clothes each day and not take anything with them to school to limit contamination. LP took her packed lunch in a throw away bag each day and had all her school stationery provided for her.

On the first day LP bounced out of school saying what a good day she’d had and that theme continued through the week. I am so proud of her for going back after such a long time and really embracing it.

Little Man is back to school in a weeks time and he cannot wait. For him it’s a little different as he’s on a transition week, moving to the Juniors ready for September. I’ll let you know how he gets on.

  1. I’m so pleased it went well for LP. Glad she enjoyed it. If we go back part time, I think little Miss will be the same. I think it’s good for them to get a bit of normality & a bit of independence out the home comfort they are getting used to xx

  2. I’m so glad that school has resumed for you and that the kids are getting a sense of normality again. I hope it continues to be plenty of fun until summer of course 🙂
