I have been looking for a blender smoothie maker for a long time now as low fat smoothies would complement my Weight Watchers plan really well. When we were given the chance to review the Breville Blend Active Family Pack I thought it looked like just the thing I had been looking for but would make it easier for me to introduce the children to healthy smoothies too – and homemade milkshakes!
What is the Breville Blend Active?
The Breville Blend Active Family Pack comes with the blender and four drinks bottles, two larger 600ml ones and two smaller 300ml ones, each with twist on lids. The bottles have lids to make them sports bottles – great for blending and then having on the go – rather than using portable blending bottles.
The instructions were clear but not really needed, we plugged the Breville Active in and were ready to go! After washing the bottles I made my first batch of smoothies and it couldn’t have been easier.
The Blend Active personal blender within the family pack is a great alternative to a family smoothie maker and one the whole family can really use and appreciate.
How do you use the Breville Blend Active?
To make anything in the blender you literally put your ingredients into one of the Breville Blend Active bottles, twist on the top with the blade attached and then place this upside down on the top of the blender. There is just one button and it won’t work unless the bottle is locked into place. This really could not be simpler! If you want to make a few different drinks you can just take the blade part off the bottle, attach a lid, clean the blade and make a new drink with a new bottle. Each of the bottles has measurements on the side to make it easier when adding ingredients.
How have we found the Breville Blend Active?
We have been loving using the Breville Blend Active Blender Family Pack and the children are now used to having a milkshake treat in the afternoon. Dave and I have been taking smoothies to work and we all prefer the smaller bottles although the large ones are great for sharing or taking out with you to enjoy through the day.
I originally thought that the Blend Active Breville Family Pack would have a couple of negatives – only being able to take Breville Active bottles and not being able to undo the lid whilst blending, instead having to take the whole bottle off the top but in reality four bottles is enough to not need any more than that and taking the whole bottle off takes seconds, it really isn’t inconvenient at all. On a plus side, the bottles are dishwasher safe.
The Breville Blend Active product can be used to make drinks to then have in a glass as well – you don’t need to keep drinks in the bottles but it is great to make smoothies in the bottles and keep in the fridge until needed. The Breville Blend Active Family Pack has changed our diet considerably and we now eat a lot more low fat yogurt, milk and fruit as a result. One great thing about the Breville Blend Active is that you can use frozen fruit straight from the freezer – breakfast smoothies have never been so quick and easy!
Here are a few of my favourite smoothies ideas from the last couple of weeks – the Blend Active recipes are the same, throw everything in and blend!

I really like the look of these kind of blenders but until we get a bigger house with a bigger kitchen I just don’t have room for any more appliances!
