The End of an Era {The Ordinary Moments}

I’ve been writing Ordinary Moments posts for over seven years and I’ve lost count of how long I’ve been hosting the linky for. I’ve been writing Ordinary Moments post for pretty much Little Man’s whole life and they have documented him growing up and his and LP’s relationship as it’s flourished too.

The Ordinary Moments are like a diary for me. They’re something to look back on and remember all those little bits of life – the weaning, the potty training, the lost teeth, the sleepless nights. They are a record of LP and Little Man’s life, our family growing together and so much of our family life.

But, now that LP is nine and Little Man is seven and a half, the ordinary moments are getting fewer and further between. I’ve felt for a long time that I’ve been scratching around to write these posts, not often having an ordinary moment to share but needing to write a post to host the linky.

I don’t want to stop writing about our Ordinary Moments. They are the things that keep this blog in tune with why it was started in the first place. It was always meant to document the children growing – and the Ordinary Moments has made sure that I keep writing about those things and never forget What the Redhead said’s roots.

But, I need to write about the ordinary moments as and when they happen. I can’t force them and I can’t keep pulling ideas together just for the sake of this linky. So, this week will be the last time that I write The Ordinary Moments as a linky. After that I’ll write about our ordinary moments on an ad hoc basis, when I have something I truly want to document and share.

I have loved hosting this linky. I’ve loved the little community that has flowed with it over the years. But, I have felt so tied to the routine of posting every Sunday and it will be nice to step away from that for a while, to have more freedom, be flexible and post more when I want to post rather than to a schedule.

So thank you to everyone who has joined in with the Ordinary Moments over the years. I’ve loved it, I’ve got to know so many people through it and it really is the end of an era.
