Sports Day {The Ordinary Moments}

This week has all been about sports day for us. LP’s sports day was meant to be last week but it got rained off and ended up being a couple of days after Little Man’s nursery sports day.

Little Man’s sports day was just an hour one morning with the children doing different races – with rings on their heads, an egg and spoon race and then races where they throw or pick up things as they go along.

Considering the children are only three and four they all did so well – especially when the heavens opened and the event was moved inside. Little Man was one of the last to finish his egg and spoon race in the rain – and this photo isn’t grainy, it’s just very, very wet!

Sports Day {The Ordinary Moments}

LP’s sports day was a completely different scale to Little Man’s. It was a whole day event where Reception, Year One and Year Two spent the morning doing different sports activities like space hopper races and moving a ball around a track with a hockey stick.

Sports Day {The Ordinary Moments}

Half way through the day we all had a picnic together and then it was time for the races. This part saw the children’s competitive streaks come out but LP isn’t competitive in the slightest, instead happily running along at the back whilst her friends zoomed off ahead.

Both LP and Little Man loved their sports days and it’s strange to think that LP has just one more sports day left at her infant school next year before heading off to the bigger junior school. It’s a day where schoolwork is put aside and where children get to have fun, compete and just be active for the day. Plus, it’s a day when parents and grandparents get to cheer their children along and see them enjoying themselves amongst their friends. It was a lovely day.

If you have an ordinary moment this week, come and link up with myself and Katie – we love reading your posts each week.

  1. That shot of your girl on the space hopper is just fab! I’m glad they both enjoyed their sports days. I still remember mine as a child. I think it’s a memory that just sticks isn’t it? 🙂
