Christmas Eve

Today is Christmas Eve. One of my favourite days of the year.

Traditionally, Dave and I have gone to the cinema on Christmas Eve and seen every kind of movie from King Kong through to Happy feet. This is a tradition that we will definitely be continuing in a few years when the children are bigger.

This year will be slightly different. We’re planning on spending Christmas Eve going to the family Christmas service at our local church. This is something I’ve never done but something I think I’d enjoy to start with the children. After that we’ll be coming home for lunch and will spend the afternoon continuing the Christmas spirit. We’ll snuggle on the sofa under a Christmas throw, drink hot chocolate and warm milk, watching Polar Express and Santa Claus the Movie.

We might get a Christmas Eve takeaway, lazy food for a relaxing evening. At bedtime the kids will get changed into brand new PJs. We’ll read them The Night Before Christmas from the special light up book we bought last year. We’ll leave Santa out a mince pie and glass of milk plus a carrot for Rudolph and we’ll watch the Portable North Pole Christmas Eve message from Santa where he tells LP that he’s on his way but she needs to be asleep before he delivers her presents. LP will then go off to bed and Dave and I will be left to play Santa.

The presents will be put under the tree, the stocking will be filled and hung on the fireplace. Christmas will be ready.

Dave and I will spend the evening playing board games, listening to Christmas music and relaxing. Then we’ll go to bed on the night before Christmas.

How are you spending your Christmas Eve?

Whatever you spend today doing, enjoy it. Merry Christmas everyone!
