Christmas at the Wisharts’ 2013
Christmas this year was surprisingly lovely. I say surprisingly because LP was ill for a few days before Christmas. She was so poorly that we had to drag her out of bed to the out of hours doctor at the hospital on Christmas Eve Eve. Luckily though, by Christmas Eve evening LP was back to her usual self, although she did have a runny nose and was extra tired but it gave me hope that Christmas day would be fine!
Because of LP being poorly, our pre-christmas, Christmas Eve plans changed dramatically. Rather than festive church going we had poorly-christmas-movie watching and a very early night for LP. She watched her Portable North Pole Christmas Eve video from Santa and he also phoned her for a chat and then she went off to bed, telling us that tomorrow was ‘Shib-Shin’ – her word for Christmas, and that Santa was coming tonight.
After LP went to bed we had a pre-Christmas tidy up, a sort out of LP’s toys and then Santa delivered presents under the tree. Dave and I relaxed for a while but then had an early night too.
Christmas morning began at 7am for Dave when he came downstairs with Little Man, I stayed in bed until 8:30am and LP didn’t wake up until gone 9am! I think by this point we were more excited than her! LP loved the presents being under the tree but was so well behaved around the presents all day, I was amazed. LP spent the day handing out presents, opening her own presents and putting everyone’s wrapping paper in the recycling – ‘cycling bin’ as LP calls it.
I cooked Christmas dinner – turkey and all the trimmings, followed by a huge cookie dough cheesecake from Costco. Dave’s lovely parents joined us for the day and it was lovely – I couldn’t imagine a better Christmas, relaxing, eating, drinking, unwrapping presents and enjoying the kids and company. It was perfect.
LP and LM were completely spoilt – we now have toys, books and clothes everywhere! LP’s favourite toys by far were her Plan Toys My First Camera and also a plastic baby bath and accessories to go with the doll Nanny bought her before LM was born. She spent the day taking photos of everyone and then having a break to bath her ‘baby’! Watching LP’s imagination develop is amazing!
Boxing day was spent at home again cooking Jamie Oliver’s Turkey and Sweet Leek Pie with the leftover turkey – a recipe I can completely recommend, it’s now our Boxing Day tradition! My big Brother came over baring another couple of favourite gifts for LP – Curious George and Christmas Curious George cuddly toys! LP’s favourite character in the world!
All in all, Christmas in our house was full of food, drink and family. To top it off, there was very little sign of LP being poorly and the only sad part was when LP got up on Boxing Day morning and started crying, saying ‘No more Christmas’.
I’m afraid not LP. That’s Christmas for another year and I’m already looking forward to next year. Christmas is definitely all about the children and for me this Christmas has been the best yet!
I hope you all had lovely Christmases too! Once again, Merry Christmas!
Looks like you all had a wonderful time. Good to hear she wasn’t sick all Christmas too-that would have spoilt things for sure !!
So glad LP perked up in time for Christmas! Looks like you all had a great day =) xx
sorry to hear of the pre-Christmas poorliness but so glad she was feeling better by Christmas. I love that pretty red dress she’s wearing. So adorable! xxx
She definitely enjoyed it! Thanks for reading 🙂 x
