Bedroom Upgrades That Are Worth the Investment
*This is a collaborative post
I am always looking for ways to give us a healthier lifestyle, with things like moving more, eating better and even improving the quality of our sleep. There is so much that you can do to upgrade your sleeping environment to make it a real tranquil haven that offers the best night of sleep that you could ask for.
Bedroom Upgrades That Are Worth the Investment
Window coverings
Good quality blinds or curtains are well worth the investment. When we had our loft conversion one of the best things we bought were made to measure blinds for all of the windows. They block out all the light, making it a lovely dark room to sleep in but they are also thermal blinds so they keep the heat in when needed and also reflect the sunlight over the summer, keeping the room cool over the hotter months of the year.
A new mattress
How long have you had your mattress for? Many traditional mattresses should be replaced every 6-8 years, making sure you have the best possible sleep night after night.
Our Simba mattresses have been great investments, with breathable covers to keep us cool, cushioned design and full body support. The micro springs stop us from being disturbed when we move during the night and they’re easy to clean too.

Bedding
There really is nothing like new bed sheets when you’re getting into bed in the evening – or even just fresh bedding, with that lovely line dried smell as you’re falling to sleep.
But, also investing in decent pillows and a good quality duvet will always be a positive choice where your sleep quality is concerned. Things like pillows and duvets are a very personal preference with so many options to choose from, just make sure that your pillows and duvet are as comfortable as they can be and aren’t keeping you tossing and turning all night.
Supportive bed frame
As well as a good quality, supportive mattress, a supportive bed frame can also help to improve your sleep quality. This could be a sturdy wooden bed frame with solid or sprung slats, an ottoman bed with quality slats but also plenty of storage inside or a traditional metal bed frame. There are so many options to fit with your decor whilst also providing a great nights sleep.
Lighting
There is nothing worse than bright, harsh lighting when you are winding down to sleep. Dimmable spotlights and cosy lamps are a nicer option when it comes to setting a lovely, ambient and restful atmosphere at the end of the day.

Temperature control
Is there anything worse than being too hot or too cold overnight? Being able to control the temperature is such a privilege and a lovely investment – whether that’s a built in air conditioning unit or air pump, or central heating that you can adjust room by room.
We also have quality fans for in the summer and different duvets and bed sheets for different times of the year, plus extra snuggly blankets and quilts for the colder months. There are so many ways to adjust the temperature of a room that work for you, your home and your lifestyle.
Storage
Lastly, no-one can sleep well in a cluttered room. Invest in built in wardrobes or freestanding cupboards and cabinets to clear away the clutter so you can have a tidy sleeping environment and a tidy mind right when you need it most.
I hope that’s given you some inspiration of where to invest to give you the best nights sleep. Good sleep is something so many of us strive for and we should really do all we can to make sure our sleep is as good as it possibly can be.
