A Whole Half Term {The Ordinary Moments}

Welcome back to another week of the Ordinary Moments. If you haven’t joined in before this is a weekly linky that launches every Sunday morning and is open until midnight on the following Saturday. It’s a linky that celebrates any ordinary moments in your life – or the not so ordinary some weeks too. Basically – anything goes. I’ll be sharing and commenting on the posts that are linked up during the week and there’s a badge at the bottom of the post if you’d like to add it to yours too.

On Thursday the children broke up for their first half term holiday of the year and it felt like such a massive achievement. After spending much of last year at home, going back to school this September was a huge milestone and in the back of my mind I’ve been waiting for something to get in the way.

But, somehow, each day passed and each week rolled into the next and before we knew it, October happened. And now we’re at half term and it all feels a bit surreal.

So many schools around the country have had to close bubbles, close year groups or fully close. Also, so many children have had Covid symptoms and had to isolate, take tests and just have time off school for sickness.

Somehow, LP and Little Man have managed to get all the way through this half term without any time off sick – and with their whole school still Covid-free. (Touch wood – I don’t want to jinx anything!)

The return to school this half term was quite a shock to the system. Getting up early, wearing uniform again and all the extra rules due to coronavirus. Wearing PE to school on PE days, not taking belongings into school with them and other things I can’t even remember now as we’re so used to it.

Their swimming and gym clubs have started up again and with all the life stuff we’ve had going on too it’s just been an utterly exhausting half term – and it’s felt about six months long!

It’s safe to say we are ready for this half term and I’m looking forward to spending it doing a whole lot of nothing. I hope you have a lovely half term too whatever you get up to.
