Simple Days and Meeting Halfway {The Ordinary Moments}

Welcome back to another week of the Ordinary Moments. If you haven’t joined in before this is a weekly linky that launches every Sunday morning and is open until midnight on the following Saturday. It’s a linky that celebrates any ordinary moments in your life – or the not so ordinary some weeks too. Basically – anything goes. I’ll be sharing and commenting on the posts that are linked up during the week and there’s a badge at the bottom of the post if you’d like to add it to yours too.

Simple Days and Meeting Halfway {The Ordinary Moments}

When I started my blog I thought it would be lovely to write, cathartic to clear my head and also document weaning with LP. I didn’t know there was a whole blogging community back then and I definitely didn’t know that blogging could eventually become my job.

So, when I found myself surrounded by friends, lovely people from all over the country – and world in some instances – who really understood blogging it felt like the cherry on the cake. A lovely bonus of something I enjoy so much.

But, with any friendships made online it isn’t always easy to see people, meet up and have quality time together. We used to meet up once a year at Britmums Live or twice a year at Blog On but, not everyone can go to every conferences and it’s nice sometimes to get together with the children too, turning online friendships into real ones that aren’t purely about blogging.

I went to the Flea Retreat in April and it was so nice to spend a weekend with likeminded people in an informal setting. It was relaxed but inspiring and I got to know so many people better than I’d known them before – and Katy was one of those of people.

We both came back from the retreat finding it hard to settle back into normal life, wanting to feel inspired again and just missing those three days of the retreat. So we made a plan to meet up in the holidays with the kids at a trusty National Trust. And that is what we did.

We ventured to Hughenden Manor and had such a simple day of Katy and I chatting whilst the five children all played so happily together. It was like they’d known each other for a lifetime instead of just a few hours.

It was such a lovely day and it’s one of those times when I’m so glad we put a date in the diary. Our life is so busy and the summer has completely run away with us – especially as we’re away for a third of it. There are so many people I would have loved to have seen but just didn’t get the time. But now, I know, I have to make the time to reach out to people, find a date and make a plan to meet halfway.
