Simple Days {The Ordinary Moments}

Welcome back to another week of the Ordinary Moments. If you haven’t joined in before this is a weekly linky that launches every Sunday morning and is open until midnight on the following Saturday. It’s a linky that celebrates any ordinary moments in your life – or the not so ordinary some weeks too. Basically – anything goes. I’ll be sharing and commenting on the posts that are linked up during the week and there’s a badge at the bottom of the post if you’d like to add it to yours too.

Simple Days {The Ordinary Moments}

It’s pretty well documented on this blog that the children and I are always busy. We are always doing something – from swimming lessons and a treat after school on a Friday to big days out, weekends away and school friends’ birthday parties.

But, I’ve come to realise that we all really appreciate having down time. We all love to have time at home, a slower pace and just a moment here or there to take a step back, appreciate things and just be for a while.

So we have been trying to have more simple days. Days where we stay in pyjamas until midday, days where we have pancakes for breakfast, days where we have no plans and instead just relax, play Lego and enjoy doing a whole lot of not very much.

I am sure LP and Little Man would be happy spending every weekend at home. But, I love our grand adventures – and I know that they do too. So, we are working on getting the balance right. Having time at home, having time away and just doing what we all went to do, with one day at a time.

Sometimes I plan our adventures months in advance but sometimes we end up with a whole weekend free that just sneaks up on us. On those weekends we ask the children what they’d like to do – and sometimes they say something huge like a theme park or zoo. Other times they say they don’t want to do anything – or they want to go to the park, ride their bikes or go to the weekend morning cinema. They have simple tastes and it makes for simple fun too.

But, whatever we do, we always have the nicest time together. Even on the simplest of days.

  1. I do love a good day at home, but I have to admit we do this more during the week than at weekends. I love going on adventures at the weekend, though after a big trip a day at home is definitely needed to recoup!

  2. We are the same, we are so busy all the time, and the one weekend we will have no plans at all – and it is just perfect #ordinarymoments
