If you’d rather jump to the suggestions, I’ve added all these gift ideas and more to an Amazon list if you’d like to take a look – I’ll be adding even more gift ideas as I think of them.

As the years go by there are so many toys in shops that it can be hard to know what to buy for children at Christmas. Plus, there are so many gift ideas that aren’t toys – something different, educational or, simply, something a child would love.

I’ve put together some gift ideas with options for all ages. It includes toys, games and so much more that would make wonderful gifts this Christmas. I hope it gives you some inspiration when it comes to your Christmas shopping!

Creative gifts

Aquabeads have always been one of our favourite creative gifts for kids and this year we love the Aquabeads Disney Stitch Keychain Craft Kit. Rather than just making shapes and designs with Aquabeads, this fantastic kit includes all you need to make at least two keychains in a variety of designs. A fantastic stocking filler for any child.

For kids who love construction toys and Squishmallows, anything from the BLDR Squishmallows range would make a fantastic gift. This BLDR Squishmallows Camping Adventure Building Set is a 246 piece buildable campsite display with a telescope, a tent, s’mores, and more. Plus, it features Squishmallows favourites Cam the Calico Cat and Benny the Bigfoot – both with squishable bellies! You can see the full BLDR range here.

A creative gift that will be loved long after Christmas is the Nosy Crow Fold-Out + Play Doll’s House. Part stylish board book and part imaginative play set, it unfolds into a gorgeous 3D doll’s house with four rooms to decorate using stand-up characters, press-out furniture, and colourful stickers. It even includes a built-in storage drawer – perfect for keeping everything together between playtimes or for taking the doll’s house along on all those festive adventures! This would make such a wonderful gift this Christmas.

Art supplies are always a great choice for children and our top pick this Christmas is this Ohuhu x Bobbie Goods pen set. The Honolulu B 48-Colour Set is a limited edition release designed to inspire creativity.

The set features exclusive Bobbie Goods artwork and signature touches on everything from the pen barrels and carrying bag to the outer box, plastic sheet, swatch card, and there’s even a bonus mini colouring page too.

Available in a vast range of colours, tones, and quantities, these markers are a perfect gift for any child, whatever their age or creative ability. You can see the full Ohuhu range here.

For a fantastic stocking filler, take a look at Time to Play Sensory. Handcrafted in the UK by a former teacher and Sensory Play Expert, their products provide children with the joy of simple sensory play, making sensory play simple for busy families.

Although they have a wide variety of everyday sensory options, their Christmas Tree Sensory Mix would be a great choice over the festive season. This multi-material tactile sensory mix includes all the parts to make up a fabulous Christmas Tree – complete with sparkly baubles and tinsel! A great way to add even more Christmas magic this year. Find out more and see the full Time to Play Sensory range here.

Books

We love to gift books to the children in our lives and this Christmas Nosy Crow have so many beautiful options that would make fantastic gifts. A Reindeer Called Joy by Helen Peters is the latest in the Jasmine Green series of animal stories for younger readers, following Jasmine’s adventures. With her dad being a farmer, and her mum a large-animal vet, meaning that Jasmine spends a lot of time caring for animals and keeping them out of trouble. This story is all about Joy, an injured reindeer calf, and Jasmine’s quest to nurse her back to health in time for Christmas!

Another top choice is How to Find a Yeti, a funny hide-and-seek adventure story that features a boy, a dog and maybe even a yeti! A little boy is certain that a yeti lives in the forest, and he’s determined to find it. With his dog, Milo, he searches here and there, high and low, until they are absolutely certain that there is no yeti whatsoever – although he may just be hiding in plain sight! A great book for younger children this Christmas that will be enjoyed all winter long!

Next on our list is The Dog is Full of Love, a brilliantly illustrated collection of over 30 poems, perfect for any child who loves dogs! The book features poems from a wide range of voices, creating a warm and witty collection of canine poetry making it a really beautiful celebration of such a beloved pet.

And our last top pick from Nosy Crow this year is This is Not a Small Voice. This is a beautiful, bold and moving collection of 100 poems by Black poets for the whole family to treasure. This gorgeously-illustrated children’s anthology introduces poets such as Lucille Clifton, Langston Hughes, Benjamin Zephaniah, Gwendolyn Brooks, Maya Angelou, Amanda Gorman, Caleb Femi and Joseph Coelho whilst touching on a wide range of themes – hope and struggle, joy and pride, home and food, music and family. It really is a gift book to cherish – a brilliant tribute to the rich literary history and bright future of Black writing. You can see the whole range of Nosy Crow books here.

We have always loved the National Geographic range of craft, science and tech kits as they are all have a STEM focus, making them not just fun but educational too. One of our top picks this year is the National Geographic Gemstone Dig Kit, allowing any child to become a treasure hunter as they carefully uncover spectacular gemstones using the digging tools provided. This will keep them entertained long after Christmas.

For something creative but completely different, get them an OJO Planters – it’s a googly-eyed stocking filler kids are bound to love! LECHUZA’s OJO planters have been designed especially for children and their green-fingered grown-ups. Based on the original PLAYMOBIL designs, these playful planters feature expressive googly eyes that help kids to see when their plant is thirsty. The clever self-watering system means the plant hair stays healthy and hydrated with minimal fuss.

Indoor gardening projects have always been a great way to capture young imaginations and offer hours of fun throughout the year. Kids love watching the plants they’ve cared for grow and thrive – and with the right tools, they’ll learn valuable lessons about nature, patience, and responsibility along the way. A planter would make such a quirky and different, but still much appreciated, gift.
