Siblings {April 2020}
It’s that time of the month where I talk about LP and Little Man, their relationship and what they’ve been up to over the last few weeks. Well, this month has been a strange one, hasn’t it?
The start of this Siblings month, in mid-March we had what would be our last family day out, a press trip to Beaulieu, somewhere we always love visiting. The weather was great, there was a shiny new play area to make the most of and it was just such an easy day out. LP and Little Man loved exploring together and it finished a lovely weekend for them.
They had no idea that schools across the country would close just a few days later but they have taken it in their stride. They embraced school at home, mostly working well, doing what was asked of them and making it fun.
LP and Little Man help each other with everything from maths and spellings to creative tasks. They work well together and being in a school environment together is something completely new to them – despite the school now being at home.
They’ve spent the last week and a bit having Easter holidays at home. We downed our school books for the holidays and have had a really relaxed way of life. The children have had so many sleepovers in each other’s rooms, watched movies, played in the garden, used the paddling pool and just had the best time, together.
It’s times like this that I really notice and appreciate how close LP and Little Man are. They are instant playmates for each other, they are happiest when doing activities together and they think nothing of being stuck in the house together for weeks at a time. Often, there is nowhere they would rather be.
I am so proud of them both for how they are dealing with life at the moment. They are having fun, enjoying each day and making the best of what they have. They know I’ll tell them when we can start making plans, when schools are going to open again and when they can see their friends. Until then they are just getting on with it, together.
