Staying at the Warwick Castle Hotel

Disclosure: We were invited on this break for the purpose of this review however all opinions are my own.

When we visited Warwick Castle last week for their Christmas at the Castle event, we were invited to stay at the Warwick Castle Hotel, turning our evening out into a lovely weekend away. We had never stayed at Warwick Castle before so were excited to stay somewhere new and see what it was like.

Where is the Warwick Castle Hotel?

Warwick Castle Hotel is one of the accomodation options at Warwick Castle which is in Warwick in the West Midlands. The Warwick Castle Hotel is right next to the Warwick Castle car park, just a short walk from the castle.

When we arrived at Warwick Castle we were directed to the car park closest to the Warwick Castle Hotel which made dealing with luggage much easier. The staff were lovely when we checked in and gave us all the information we needed – that reception and the hotel shop were open 24/7, where breakfast would be served and how to get to the castle for Christmas at the Castle once we were settled in our rooms. They couldn’t have been more helpful.

The Warwick Castle Hotel rooms

We were staying in a room on the first of the hotel which had lifts or stairs to access the rooms and a fantastic mezzanine looking down on reception and the huge horse below.

The whole hotel was really well designed to suit the medieval theme, from the horse in the lobby to the wooden cladding outside the hotel and the murals along the corridors. The rooms also fit the theme nicely and we were really pleased with the room from when we first walked through the door.

All of the Warwick Castle Hotel rooms are set up for families, with a kingsize bed in one room and a separate nook that has children’s bunk beds with a pull out trundle bed and a cot as well. The room was a really good size and although fairly basic, it had everything we could need for our stay and looked great too.

The main bedroom was separated from the bunk bed area by a curtain and each area had their own lights. There was plenty of storage as well as tea and coffee making facilities – complete with biscuits – and free wifi.

The bathroom was compact but functional, with a bath and a shower over it, plenty of towels and complimentary toiletries. The room and bathroom were perfect for our needs and, after enjoying the evening festivities at the castle, we had a great nights sleep at the hotel. It was nice and warm, with comfortable bedding and was nice and quiet – as well as being really dark. The ideal combination for good sleep!

Breakfast at Warwick Castle Hotel

In the morning we had breakfast at the Knight’s Table restaurant. This is just a short stroll from the hotel, across a bridge walkway, making it feel like you’re off to dine in a treehouse. It was lovely!

Breakfast was buffet style, with self service hot drinks and juices along with a full cooked buffet of bacon, sausages, eggs and even hash browns plus a continental buffet of breads, pastries, fruit and more. There really was something for everyone.

All four of us found things that we enjoyed for breakfast – with Dave and I enjoying the cooked breakfast and the children mainly having pancakes, hash browns and fresh fruit. It was a really substantial buffet and a great way to finish our stay at the Warwick Castle Hotel.
