LP – The Storyteller {The Ordinary Moments}
LP has always had a fantastic imagination. She has been playing role play games by herself and with her brother for literally years and will constantly act out scenes she has seen in her favourite TV shows with her playing one character and her brother playing another.
But her imagination has gone one step further recently. LP now insists on telling us stories. It started off as having a mini theatre show before bed where her and Little Man would introduce the show, act a little bit and then say The End as loudly as they could. But it has now progressed onto a whole new level.
LP now knows a few stories off by heart and will retell them to us at bedtime. The first time she did this was when we stayed in a hotel overnight. She climbed into bed and said that she wanted to tell the bedtime story tonight – which we appreciated as we didn’t have any books with us!
LP then told us The Three Little Pigs – complete with all three houses, the huffing and the puffing and even the wolf falling into the soup at the end. But she didn’t just tell us the story, she was animated and excited throughout. She loved being the storyteller rather than the listener and she really liked having all of our undivided attention for as long as the story went on.
I am so proud of LP and how much she has learnt since starting school but I am more proud of her confidence, her vocabulary and her ever growing imagination. She makes us laugh and amazes us in equal measure every single day and it’s a joy to be told a bedtime story by her. Long may this continue.
My oldest is 3 and she’s just started the storytelling stage & like you I’m amazed by her memory and vocabulary. Long may it continue.
It is so lovely she has that confidence and loves to tell stories, it’s nice for them to entertain us once in a while! X
This is lovely and who doesn’t love the three little pigs. Alice is the same remembers stories and she loves to read them to Holly. I think its fantastic for their imagination to expand this way. X
Oh thanks Suzanne – I always forget, will link tomorrow x
That is just so cute bless her, you have such lovely children. I miss the story book days, they grew out of a bedtime story quite a while ago!
