It’s that time of the month where I share all the things we’ve been enjoying this month, and it really has been such a lovely month. It’s been a month where Little Man turned thirteen, where LP has gone abroad with school and where we’ve had a lot of time together. It’s been pretty glorious.
So here’s everything we’ve liked and loved in May:
Little Man’s birthday
The highlight of this month was Little Man’s birthday. I have no idea how he’s thirteen but somehow we got here! We had a lovely weekend, seeing friends and family and celebrating our favourite boy in the best way possible.

Legoland
The main event of his birthday celebrations was a trip to Legoland. We haven’t been in a couple of years and have mostly decided that we’ve outgrown it, but Little Man wanted one last trip to one of his favourite places.

We spent the whole of Sunday there, going on rides, wandering around Miniland and reminiscing about Legoland trips of years gone. It was such a lovely day and I am so glad that we went. We’ve got Merlin Annual Passes for the year and it was a great way to kick off a year of Merlin adventures.
Conan Gray
Just after Little Man’s birthday I took LP to see Conan Gray. He’s her favourite artist and she got tickets for Christmas and it’s definitely a highlight of the year for her. The journey to and from The O2 was pretty eventful but the show was well worth it, it was fantastic!

Half term
I’m writing this halfway through half term. Usually we go away in May half term but LP is away this year so we’re having a low key half term at home – and the weather has definitely been on our side, although it’s incredibly hot at the moment!
Time in the garden
Along with the great weather, this month has brought with it a lot of time in the garden. I’ve loved sitting outside, listening to the birds and just taking time to appreciate the garden. Plus, it’s lovely to take my laptop outside and work out there too when I can.

Berlin
As I write this, LP is off in Berlin with school. She’s spending half of half term in Germany as part of her history GCSE and it’s the first time she’s been on an overnight school trip – a consequence of the pandemic! They have a really packed itinerary, seeing so many different places of historic interest as well as tourist attractions and I can’t wait to hear all about the adventure when she gets home.
Cotton Traders
With the weather so unpredictable at the moment, until the last week of blazing sunshine, I have been dressing with as many transitional items as I can – plenty of layers and often with a waterproof added! I’ve spent most of the month layering on a reliable fleece for that extra bit of warmth first thing in the morning or in the evening.

The Cotton Traders Women’s Fleeces collection has got you covered with versatile, lightweight layers that provide extra warmth whilst still being super comfortable, making them great for days at home or outdoor adventures. Plus, the Microfleece Jacket, and many other Cotton Traders fleece products, come in a range of colours, giving you so much choice and items that work well with any outfit.

Feeding the birds
Our garden has long been a haven for birds. We have so many nearby and we love listening to them chat and sing during the day. But, I have always been wary of encouraging the birds into the garden as we have cats in our lives. But, this month I invested in a tall bird feeder with the aim of keeping an eye on the cats and getting rid of it again at the first sign of problems.

Amazingly though, the cats love to watch the birds, love to chat to the birds and have pretty much left them alone – so we’re able to feed the birds, watch them and love having them visit without worrying about the cats. It’s a win win!

And that is pretty much our May. A really lovely month that has been just the right kind of busy. May is always a favourite for us and this year has been no different. I’m now looking forward to getting LP back home and seeing what lovely things June will bring with it. I hope you had a lovely May too.
