It’s that time of the month again where I share all the lovely things we’ve been enjoying over the last few weeks. As I write this we are actually on holiday and so this will actually cover the things we’ve loved until we went away – and I’ll share everything we’ve loved from holiday in next months instalment!

So here’s everything we’ve enjoyed in October:

Hair cuts

LP and I both went and got our hair cut at the start of the month. I’m trying to get better at having regular hair cuts rather than leaving it the best part of a year! LP loves getting her hair cut too and she now has the shortest hair she has ever had – and loves it!

My birthday

I turned 41 earlier this month and it was a lovely, low key birthday this year. I spent a really nice day with my bestie, having brunch and mooching around the shops before enjoying fish and chips and a movie with Dave and the kids in the evening. I had lots of cake, lots of food and enjoyed time with my favourite people.

The Hawk Conservancy Trust

A couple of days after my birthday we went to The Hawk Conservancy Trust for the first time and had such a nice day. We watched flying displays, met lots of lovely birds and had a glorious afternoon tea. You can read more about our day here.

Giving blood

This month I gave blood for the 24th time. I’ve literally been donating forever, aside from pregnancy, breastfeeding and the times when I haven’t been able to donate due to low iron. Although 24 times isn’t a lot really – it’s 8 years of continuous donations for a woman – I’m still proud that I have helped so many people. It takes an hour of my time every four months and I get to meet lovely people and have biscuits and crisps afterwards. It’s a win-win really! You can find out more about donating blood here.

Cutie Colouring

I am really mindful of trying to switch off as much as possible and relax so when a delivery of Cutie Colouring books arrived I couldn’t wait to get stuck in with the kids! The books are beautiful, with everyday designs and also seasonal options, meaning there are colouring books to keep you entertained throughout the year.

Great for adults or children of any age, the books are full of beautiful designs, feature so many cute characters and, most importantly, are made of great quality paper so you can treasure the finished pictures long after you’ve coloured them. They’d make a great gift too. You can see the full Cutie Colouring range here.

Bebeto

The lovely people at Bebeto sent us their Halloween range to enjoy earlier this month – and it definitely got us in the Halloween spirit! So many jelly sweets with sour ones, fizzy ones and all the fruit flavours, they have sweets for everyone! You can see the full range here.

New games

We loved playing games as a family over our summer holiday in the UAE and so I have tried to carry on those little games sessions at home. We tend to play a game each week at some point, around school and Dave’s work shifts, and it’s always lovely quality time together.

This month we’ve mainly been playing Ticket to Ride – the European version – that I recently bought and also Azul. We had the travel version but I’ve just invested in the full size game and it may be one of the most beautiful games I have ever owned. You can see all our favourite family games here.

Fred & George

This month is two years since we adopted Fred & George from the RSPCA and we could not imagine life without them. Fred still has no fear at all and is such an adventurer. Whereas George is still very nervous but spends his days alternating between chatting to the birds and having cuddles. He’s my little shadow. Two years already, here’s to many more.

And just like that, another month is coming to a close. I don’t know where this year is going but it’s flying by – and October was another lovely month. I hope that whatever you’ve been up to, October has been a lovely month for you too.
